Bush should be tried as a war criminal after impeachment says former Reagan official
by redstatehatemonitor

Prominent Conservative Leader says Government in Hands of Psychopaths

Paul Craig Roberts said that the US government is in the hands of dangerous psychopaths who are a disgrace to the human race and who should be arrested as war criminals and turned over the the Hague.

http://www.imgred.com/

Former associate editor of the Wall Street Journal and former Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury Dr. Paul Craig Roberts expressed his dire warning that the US government has fallen into the hands of Neo-Con psychopaths.

http://www.imgred.com/

Roberts went further than he has ever gone before in stating that the Neo-Cons were worse than Hitler and Stalin because they publicly embrace torture and pre-emptive war, something that past despots at least tried to hide.

Dr. Roberts also correctly states that Bush\Cheney are more evil than Hitler\Stalin and that the followers of the NEO-CONS have a mentality that is "like that of the brown shirts that followed Hitler".

1. Even if we don't impeach, they should still be tried as war criminals.

2. It would be easier to try them as private citizens when they leave gov't, but...
on the other hand, two years is a long time for a lot of soldiers between now and January 2009. A good number simply don't have that much time left to live.

4. Many believe the death toll for which they are responsible started on 9/11
...with over 3,000 innocent civilians.

There are at least 47 good reasons to openly investigate the events of 9/11...

(For the uninformed, the graphic is of WTC 7 which collapsed after being hit with no aircraft. Too bad it housed the SEC and investigations into WorldCom and Enron had to be abandoned...along with Rudy Guiliani's "Command Bunker".)

8. Congress needs to start somewhere.
It is stunning that they ignored the War Crimes of Rumsfeld.

Rumsfeld Shouldn't be Fired, He Should be Indicted
by Matthew Rothschild

“Secretary Rumsfeld has publicly admitted that . . . he ordered an Iraqi national held in Camp Cropper, a high security detention center in Iraq, to be kept off the prison’s rolls and not presented to the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the report noted. The Geneva Conventions require countries to grant the Red Cross access to all detainees. “

http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0418-24.htm

Further Evidence Rumsfeld Implicated in War Crimes
Please read this important post by Marty Lederman, Army Confirms: Rumsfeld Authorized Criminal Conduct.

Here's a key section, but there's more:
The Army's charges against Jordan reflect the view, undoubtedly correct, that the use of forced nudity or intimidation with dogs against detainees subject to military control constitutes cruelty and maltreatment that Article 93 makes criminal. It doesn't matter whether they are or are not "torture," as such; nor does it matter whether the armed forces should be permitted to use such interrogation techniques: As things currently stand, they are unlawful, as even the Army now acknowledges.

But then how can we account for the actions of the Secretary of Defense and his close aides?

On November 27, 2002, Pentagon General Counsel William Haynes, following discussions with Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz, General Myers, and Doug Feith, informed the Secretary of Defense that forced nudity and the use of the fear of dogs to induce stress were lawful techniques, and he recommended that they be approved for use at Guantanamo.

(The lists of techniques to which Haynes was referring can be found in this memorandum.) On December 2, 2002, Secretary Rumsfeld approved those techniques for use at Guantanamo -- and subsequently those techniques were used on detainee Mohammed al-Qahtani.

In other words, the Secretary of Defense authorized criminal conduct.

...

Today's Army charge under UCMJ Article 93 against Lt. Col. Jordan -- for conduct that the SecDef actually authorized as to some detainees -- demonstrates that Rumsfeld approved of, and encouraged, violations of the criminal law.

that impeachment just ain't gonna happen... too many DLCers (Lieberman, Hillary) will block it. I think the best strategy now is to make sure that we elect a no-war, no-corporatist President in '08 who's willing to turn the Bush Administration over to the Hague for war crimes...

--the DLC and corporatists do NOT rock the boat with war crimes issues--besides the fact that HRC has NOT taken a strong, courageous stand on ANYTHING--so why would she start after becoming president? instead, we could expect a complete sweeping under the rug "for the good of the nation," as her husband did with the Iran-Contra TRAITOROUS SCUMBAGS who have come back like ghouls from the grave to perpetrate yet more crimes against humanity with impunity.

supporting Hillary?

For what it’s worth Hillary is a conservative; Dennis Kucinich is a liberal… B I G difference…
It would be a victory for the neo-cons If HRC or any other conservative wins the general election… All neo-con Nazi’s will walk scot-free and will remain the very worst and most powerful and terrifying influence throughout the world, and no conservative will stand in their way or bring them down. They will not stand in there way now; they will not stand in there way ever...

29. Nope
She is the DLC candidate of choice and the DLC represents everything that has gone wrong with the Democratic party.

They have long been accomodationist to the uncompromising right wing of the republican party. They are pro-free trade, whether or not it negatively impacts the rights of workers abroad or the environment.

Let us stop fooling ourselves and stop listening to advice from corporations that are only doing so because they are aware that the republican party is going down.

24. Let's Pull Out The Roots...Something We Missed During Watergate
There's a regime full of criminality and criminals that need to be held accountable. While it is important that the princpals are prosecuted for their crimes, there is a serious need to clean house and get to all the criminals...the low level ones...that were this regime's worker ants and foot soldiers...and the seeds of their "resurgence".

Naevily, I never thought I'd see a regime as bad as Nixons...boy was I proven wrong...as some of the worst perpetrators today cut their teeth in the Nixon machine but never were held accountable as all eyes were focused on taking down Big Dick. This time we can't allow that to happen. We're just starting to learn how politicized and corrupt our government has become...someone's responsible and this "I can't recall" bullshit needs to end. It requires criminal investigations and prosecutions and a determination to see these investigations through to the end...no matter how long it takes.

The goal is to make the work "Neo-Con" one of the most poisonous in the American lexicon.

43. Yeah, but they've thoroughly "seeded" the federal government
Not to mix too many metaphors, but I fear that this really is a cancer that has gone too far. From the first weeks the Bush Regime took power, the purges followed by placements of young loyalists has gone on at a furious pace.

Remember that it's been nearly 40 years since Cheney was a young man in the Nixon WH. There are literally thousands of little Cheney's burrowed in throughout the federal government. What will they do to this country over the next 40 years? I think it might be time for an escape plan.

45. Point Very Noted On This End...
And I hope it's also noted by Congressmen Conyers and Waxman...the point men in where this investigation goes and what it will lead to.

No doubt whichever Democrat next inhabits the executive will need to do a wholescale disinfecting and cleaning of AEI, Heritage Institute and Lobbyist bots as well as the "true believers" (many who I suspect will make their own hasty exits...steeling away while they can). The Judiciary will be the residual that will take years to cleanse.

If anything we may need some sort of "Truth and Reconsiliation" commission set up down the road that not only gets to the causes of what happened, but to be a springboard to root violators out of the public sector and set up future safegaurds to prevent future abuses. Or at least a guy can dream...

Cheers...

32. When Italy sought extradiction of CIA agents who kidnapped an Imam and rendered him for torture...
There were questions raised by members of that government, 'our ally' in the so-called 'war on terror', about not just the legality of the extraordinary rendition carried out on foreign soil by US Agents acting under color of law, but what about the legality of the reverse --suppose Italian Agents acting under color of law 'kidnapped' Bush or Cheney or Rice in the United States and flew them to the Hague for trial on war crimes?

Right now there are arrest orders and pending extradiction requests from Italy for the CIA agents who engaged in that operation. If the US does not honor that request then it is tantamount to the US ratifying a clear violation of international law and breach of the sovereign territory of Italy without permission(which BTW is considered a valid basis military retaliation by most countries who make up the Security Council at the UN).

When viewed in that light you begin to understand the illegality of actions taken by this Administration and how the rest of the world views the US today.

37. It is not the numbers or the victims that make him worse,
although they can be categorized and compared, but it is his declarations that torturing and killing innocent people is the right thing to do, while Hitler and Stalin were not, nor could not be, so bold. (although it soon became obvious, they did not initially praise themselves publicly for these vile acts)

Yes, Hitler and Stalin killed more people, but Bush still has a little over a year left with his propogandist media.
