I like ALL of our candidates
Biden- OK he's Mr. credit card, bur he's way better than any repub.
Clark- Wow, a general who's against war, above reproach, very smart.
Clinton- Very politically savvy, not my first choice, but a real possibility.
Edwards- Smart, well spoken, champion of the poor, good hair.
Gore- The real president, probably the best in the world on the environment.
Gravel- A real gem, doesn't have to be afraid to tell it like it is.
Kerry- A war hero, a war protester, a great senator.
Kucinich-An idealist, fearless.
Obama- The future of the party, a standard bearer.
Richards- Great foriegn policy guy, lots of experience.

No matter which of our candidates win in '08 they will be a real step up from what we have now. (Even my dog would be a step up.)
I hope that whoever is elected will call on the otheres to fill their cabinet. Can you imagine Wes Clark as Sec of Defense? Richardson as Sec of State? Etc. etc. etc? Bless 'em all. The world needs a great leader now, and a great cabinet behind him or her.

1. Any single one of ours is 1000% better than theirs.

2. Wes Clark cannot be Secretary of Defense
He would have to have been out of the service for at least 10 years, and he won't be.

3. agreed -
though, TBH, I don't know that much about some of the less well-known candidates.

I can - and would - support ANY of them.

I just don't get the hatred and the ire of some supposed DU'ers against certain Dem candidates.

All I can surmise is:

A) they're paid operatives;
B) they're disruptors trying to sow seeds of contention amongst the party;
C) they're cutting their noses off to spite their face;
D) they're just petty;
E) they're just clueless about the bigger picture;
F) they're sooooooooo biased for "their" candidate - they can't/won't see anything good in anyone else.

It really makes me want to :puke: when I see all the DEM bashing on here. You'd think you were - uh - someplace else the amount of vitriol spewed here.

(Donning flame retardant suit now. Note: we need a smilie for that.)

4. I think they all suck so bad...
that the only worse options are the republican candidates.

I think there is something undemocratic and unempowering about politician worship and politicians in general.

5. The Game Is On The Local Level Now...
I pay little attention to the made-for-TV primary season that's going on now. The only people this matters to are the candiates and those who write the checks...very little that is said now will matter or probably be remembered by next January. Thus, I'm blissfully uncommitted, with the feeling that no matter who begins to emerge, they will be a far better candidate than whatever weaseldick comes out of the Repugnican mess.

My focus is on the local scene. Right now a new slew of "people-powered" candidates are trying to establish their campaigns. There are doznes of districts that Democrats will be in a good position to challenge in next year or need to be held onto. There are a bunch of Senate seats that could render the Liebermann party totally irrelevant and give a future Democratic President a comfortable majority to start with in pushing through an agenda of change. Plus there's a lot more "downticket" races that will determine state party strength...which means who controls the voting machines....thus that's something I strongly encourage DU'ers who want to get involved to look into now.

One of the things the Repugnicans did for years that helped build their party and majority was attention to the every race. Dr. Dean has reshaped the party so that it is now able to compete on such a level...and it's up to us to make it happen.
