If Cheney is not a member of the executive branch, is he entitled to SS protection

along with any pretense that he's entitled to claim executive privilege for anything.

3. If he's not a part of the Executive branch, then he only has the title of President of the Senate,

making him the same status as all senators. No SS protection (unless running as a candidate) and he should be made to play by the Senate finance rules regarding travel.

There is a government bill somewhere that says only presidents and ex presidents, vice presidents and ex vice presidents and their immediate families are entitled to secret service protection. Candidates for the presidency were also to receive protection, when it was getting time for the election. Also Speaker of the House and President Pro Tem of the Senate.

If anyone else had secret service protection than the president had to issue an order granting it. No where does it say bush issued an order granting rove secret service protection. Yet every where he goes he has it.

I think anyone in gov't who needs protecting gets it. Remember someone sent a threat to Barack's organization and he's had SS ever since. So, i don't think being in the exec is a prerequisite.

These men will protect Cheney as well as the Secret Service, and they don't cost the taxpayer as much.
