Insightful author interviews
Saturday 9 PM, Sunday 6 PM and 9 PM ET
Amity Shlaes re-examines the financial history of the Great Depression and critiques the New Deal in her book The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression. The author argues that it was the fortitude of the individual citizen and not President Roosevelt's economic plan that sustained people throughout the Depression. Ms. Shlaes recounts the lives of these individuals as well as the proponents and critics of the New Deal. She discusses her new book with Nick Gillespie, editor-in-chief of Reason magazine.
