Police: Woman Attacked For Not Cooking Dinner

PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 24-year-old man is accused of punching, kicking and throwing a knife at his girlfriend after arguing about her not cooking dinner, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

Lonnie Maragni, of Palm Bay, was charged with aggravated assault with a knife and battery after a witness called police to report a woman being assaulted in the 4100 block of Overlook Drive, a police report showed.

Palm Bay police said Maragni began arguing with his girlfriend earlier this month because he wanted her to cook him dinner.

Police said Maragni became angry and destroyed items in the home. The girlfriend at one point even contacted her ex-husband, who owns the property, for help with calming Maragni, reports show.

But within hours, police said Maragni started throwing a knife at the woman and later punched her in the stomach several times. He also kicked and choked her throughout the night, reports show.

BULLHEAD CITY - On Thursday evening at 6:11 p.m. two unknown Latino males approached a residence
in the 1500 block of Trane Road and asked the occupant, an 82-year-old woman who lives alone,
for a glass of water. They then allegedly forced their way into the home and began striking
the elderly woman repeatedly, punching her more than 20 times on the face, neck and head.

“This woman was severely beaten. She was beaten to the point where she could not see,”
said Steve Smith, spokesperson for the Bullhead City Police Department. “Her eyes were sealed shut.”
