Is Sicko opening at a theater near you? It's not by me.

we do not get announcements from the theaters about what is going to be there until the day after they are already showing. Sometimes if you call they can't or won't even tell you. It is ridiculous but it is what it is. We had to throw fits and protest here to get F 9/11 so my guess is we might get it sometime next year. We will drive 65 miles and see it in KC or if it comes to Lawrence it will be only half that distance.

It's about 30 miles from me. Not impossible but a pain in the ass.

3. Yes, it will be showing in a small "art type theater" in

Waterville, Maine. That is where F 9/11 also opened and where I saw that movie on opening day. They wouldn't let anyone pre-purchase tickets and tkts went on sale only two hours before the showing. The line was long and snaked out the door. My husband and I plan to see Sicko on Friday, assuming we can get tkts for the first day of showing. Sure do wish it was being shown in the larger cinema in town that has stadium seating instead of the much small theater.

4. I haven't checked but it might be since my son saw an ad

when watching a movie recently. If it isn't in one of the chains, I'm sure it will be in one of the art theatres. Is there a list or just a list of where sneak previews were shown?

5. I haven't been able to find a list. It's supposed to be opening nationwide.

I would've somehow thought that would mean 'at a theater near you'. What a frigging 'free country' we live in...yeah, right.

7. The closest theater to me is across the border in Kenosha, WI.

It's about 20 minutes from where we are, but :wtf:.

The closest theater to me in IL showing it is about 50 minutes south of here. :mad:

I assumed that it really was opening "nationwide." None of the theaters in the Vernon Hills area, or at Gurnee Mills is showing it. :mad:

8. It's going to be at the Angelika Theaters

in the Dallas area starting June 29th (in both the Dallas and Plano sites). I live in Plano so it's just across town from me.

Not sure if it will be at Cinemark. My daughter who works there thinks she remembers seeing previews for it but it's too soon in the week for their website to show Friday's listings so I have nothing to check yet.

yet they will not show it. So, I guess we can say it is something other than a market-driven system.

11. Nothing near me in Chapel Hill, NC--which is very hard to believe.

We have independent screens here and I'm surprised it isn't booked.
