US generals: Iraqi army can't hold our gains
American commanders leading the "surge" offensive against al-Qa'eda-aligned insurgents in Iraq have expressed concerns that the Iraqi army may still be too weak to hold any ground made by US forces.

A US soldier on patrol in Baghdad: US generals have warned the Iraqi army may not be strong enough to hold gains made in the US 'surge'

Brig Gen Bednarek said that American forces had cleared at least 60 per cent of Baquba, in Diyala province north of Baghdad, but had concerns that national forces, short on weapons and equipment, could not police the city after it had been cleared.

"The challenge now is, how do you hold onto the terrain you've cleared?" he said.

"You have to do that shoulder-to-shoulder with Iraqi security forces. And they’re not quite up to the job yet."

3. "al-Qa'eda-aligned insurgents " WTF!
This kind of blatant propaganda is stupefyingly repugnant. I just cannot believe that the press is going to just blithely lie about this and think that it will become truth...

4. "Al Qaeda-aligned insurgents" = How do we know how they're "aligned"?
Are they wearing "I heart AQ" T-shirts?
