According to William Arkin, blogging last week at The Washington Post, the military command (NORTHCOM) overseeing US "homeland defense" wants to establish a "domestic missions" operation. If this is effected, Posse Comitatus - like Habeas Corpus - is dead, another casualty in the Bush Crime Family's determination to change this country from the appearance of democracy to the reality of fascism.

Included in this mission are plans to deploy commandos in the US. Yes, commandos. Let that sink in.

If sanctioned by the Pentagon - to whom the request has been made - this activity would end the traditional role of the State militias (the National Guard) and switch federal law enforcement from the FBI to the military.

Among the strategic objectives of this new operation are euphemistic titles such as "non-conventional assisted recovery," "integrated survey programs," information operations," "special technical operations," and last, my personal favorite, "special activities." Want to take a shot at defining these innocuous-sounding activities? (Hint: "special activities" is a euphemism for covert operations.)

One big catch: NORTHCOM already is secretly conducting the activity it now seeks permission to begin publicly. Since 2003, a division of this domestic military police operation - Compartmented Planning and Operations Cell, or CPOC - has been busy conducting the "planning" for a number of domestic missions, including those listed above.

You can see working here the further genius of Rove, Cheney, and Gonzales, right?

So, how do we respond to this latest move by the Bush Crime Family? They can't be impeached and removed from office. Pelosi and Reid say so and the Republican leadership is already fully Fascist.

I want to kick myself for letting myself go. In 2004, Mr. smokey and I went back to Vegas to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary. I'd lost a lot of weight, but put about 15 pounds back on. I worked out all that summer and didn't loose any weight. I was really toned, but my really skinny clothes just weren't fitting. That bummed me out soooo much I just gave up on everything. Now I'd kill to weigh what I did then.

Meryl Streep was on the red carpet (Oscars or something) wearing a big kimono and said she's a size 14. Lorraine Bracco (gratuitous Sopranos reference) has packed some on. Marcia Gay Harden hasn't lost her baby weight & she's about 44, I think. I flipped through the Tony Awards and it looked like Patti Lupone was carrying an extra 30 lbs or so. Anyway, it makes me realize it's just one of those facts of life and we have to deal.

I mentioned that I work with members of the local green party and that some of the members and I work together!!!

143. I have been listening to this show for over 13 years..

I heard only criticism of Clinton, his healthcare plan, his tax increase, and the Democratic Congress on the radio. Then..one night in 1993, I found this show on WSB! after Malloy was hired by WLS, I was able to pick it up most nights where I lived. And I haven't stopped listening since!

we have had someone who stood up for Democrats in Congress and Clinton when nobody else on the radio would. someone who criticized the Republican Congress when others only worshiped them. someone who was willing to speak out against the "patriot act" and Bush when others wouldn't even touch that!

Now Ed Shultz (and I guess this is where yours is coming from), was whinnying today about ownership, how it affects programing and why we don't need a fairness doctrine (which we do). One good thing about his rant today though was putting the liar Senator's feet on the fire, but he really cannot connect dots. It was a right wing objective to get rid of fairness and they will do anything they can to keep the limped back dems from fixing that problem.

Thom Hartman has covered this issue for literally years, not in a whining voice, but factual. He has a problem with privatizing the commons, as you well know and he does not care about how many radio stations have him on... at least I don't think so, but about reaching as many folks as he can.

Rand just does not cover it. But she connects OTHER dots, just like you do.

But here is the common thread... not that Ed Shultz will see it.

this is not about market, but about informing the population and covering news and the public good.

Corporations don't want that... the truth is dangerous at this point. Corporations want to keep the sheep uniformed. Hell, look at CNN, Sicko, we don't want to cover that, what about Paris Hilton? CNN the first name in Paris Hilton news.

By the way, I know about your frustration. Have felt it for years. As a writer I have had fiction rejected because it is too political. Hell, they've broken time on record rejection records. We must dumb down people... hell Starship troopers would not be published today... really.

Today I had an interesting conversation. People annoyed at a series ending, me... TV? Outside of Oberman, that is a nice box we have there. For real news the Daily Show, only place outside of C-SPAN where you still find the US House and the US Senate... that alone speaks volumes

Oh and the constitutional crisis, I had nothing better to do so I did watch some of the shows on Sunday, nope, they did not cover it. Though the immigration, first time I hear anybody mention that half the ilegals are not Mexican. I've known that for years, yes they're European and white, but still... if they are covering that makes you wonder just how much they want to hide Her Chenney's behavior.. I also was reminded of why I don't watch that crap no more though.
