WH Calls Lugar In For A Meeting After His Iraq Remarks
une 26, 2007
Read More: Iraq

Lugar gets a meeting with White House aides on Iraq

Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), whose comments on Iraq have caused a huge ruckus in the Capitol today just told reporters that the White House called him to ask for a meeting. Lugar would not say who he is meeting with or when it would happen, but all indications are that it will be National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and it will take place later in the week.

Lugar said that he had been working on his floor speech, which he delivered Monday night, for the last three weeks, and had shown other senators copies of the statement, although he did not inform the White House. The Indiana Republican also said he was not drafting any legislation or resolutions to express his own viewpoint on the war, at least not at this point.

1. Be sure to sit with your back to the wall, Senator.
And if Hadley excuses himself to go to the restroom, RUN!!!

23. He's Not An Independent State: He's In Constant Quantum Flux
So the answer to your question is "Yes and No". Cheney will be both, "there" AND "not there".

6. Luger must be seeing the poll#'s in Indiana.
And it must be pretty bleak for his side. I think this is the first real leak in the dam, but I expect the rupture to follow, soon.

And he'd better stand his ground. Do Republicans who dare to disagree with the Bush regime have no First Amendment rights all of a sudden? :grr:

Don't worry, Dick -- there are plenty of Hoosiers behind you. We got your back.

8. Oh please. Is this like the 11 House Repubs who staged THEIR big event
a couple months ago, to make it look like the GOP was really concerned about the war? Come on, Lugar's not "in trouble"--he's playing the game according to script.

either than or give him a little shock therapy.

Can't have one of the pawns thinking on his own.

10. I'm sure Lugar misspoke, what he meant to say was
"real change is imminent if we continue to support the surge. We should re-evaluate come next Sept. "('08)

11. Statement by Richard Lugar - R "I wish to clarify my remarks regarding the Iraq War.
I'm afraid my remarks were taken out of context and twisted to mean something I did not intend. I've just had a productive meeting at The White House, and wish to reiterate my support for President Bush and the War in Iraq. We are approaching victory day by day and will soon see results of the operations which will bring the conflict within a measurable distance of its end. This is no time for defeatest talk. We need to watch what we do and watch what we say..."

Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
Boilerplate.
Boilerplate.
Boilerplate.

Chickenshit. He'll back down. You watch.

13. I guess he will play when they tell him about the CIA rendition rape rooms.
Lugar would be best off not flying in small planes or driving around without a security detail. This criminal DICTATORSHIP will not tolerate such insolence.

We'll just send a few good old-fashioned Indiana rednecks to rescue him. Even the Bushies wouldn't want to mess with some of the ones I've seen around here.

15. If I was Lugar I would be telling Hadley to whack himself off.
Why would anyone in the White House care what Lugar has to say about the war at this point in time?

Why would Lugar bother discussing anything about the war with anyone in the White House knowing that they are a bunch of crooks?

If Lugar had any balls he would call Cheney and tell him that he will not meet with Hadley.

18. So When Does The New Indianapolis Airport, Military Base & Defense Plant Open?
Lugie's hocked on upon this regime's party...that must mean he needs an earmark or some other perk to shut him up. What shall it be???

I suspect Lugie, like Warner, will squawk about the invasion...creating cover for other Repugnicans when they go home for the 4th of July...and then in September will vote to continue this war for profit. He'll "handwring", but when the bell rings, he's party above any principal.
