Security checkpoint ads advance, pop up in more airports
The notion that you can escape advertisements is absurd. They're everywhere - even at airport security checkpoints. Now comes word that the Transportation Security Administration has approved the placement of ads on the bottom of checkpoint trays at six airports: Nashville (BNA), Los Angeles (LAX), Ontario (ONT), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA), Orange County (SNA), and Lafayette, LA (LFT).
The company that puts those ads there, SecurityPoint Media, says the trays will be arrayed at these airports in time for July 4 travelers to use them. The company insists that it's not just about advertising, that the system it set up for TSA renders security checkpoints “cleaner,
more efficient”. It contends that after more than a year of in-use testing at four airports, its ad-laden SecureTray System™ has cut in-line waiting times by more than 15 percent.
