Poll says distrust of U.S. is growing
Poll says distrust of U.S. is growing
By ALAN FRAM, Associated Press Writer
Wed Jun 27, 2:00 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Unease with American foreign policy and President Bush has intensified in countries that are some of the closest U.S. allies and around the globe, while Russia and China also face growing international wariness, a survey released Wednesday said.

Support for the U.S.-led war in Iraq, the NATO military action in Afghanistan and worldwide American efforts against terrorism have dropped since 2002, according to an international survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Views of the U.S. in much of the Muslim world remain particularly negative.

In one measure of Bush's unpopularity, the poll showed he is less trusted on foreign policy than Russian President Vladimir Putin by allies Britain, Germany and Canada, even as faith in Putin has plummeted. About half in the U.S. say they have little or no trust in either leader's conduct of foreign affairs.

Bush's sagging numbers partly reflect widespread opposition to the U.S. war in Iraq. Of the countries surveyed — which included the U.S. — more people favored the removal of American forces from Iraq in all but Israel, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya.

"Even though there is a mixed view of the United States around the world, there is increasing disapproval of the principal cornerstones of our foreign policy," said Pew President Andrew Kohut.

6. It's All IRRELEVANT!!!
The Dictatorship will continue until At Least January 2009.

What are these other countries going to do? Hate us more?

I'm sure our King does not care. He doesn't mind 26% approval in U.S., I am sure he doesn't mind even lower elsewhere.

HE'S THE DICTATOR IN CHIEF AFTER ALL!!!

8. Maybe because they think it should be easier for us to keep things on the table???
Maybe people who know how to have general strikes, universal health care, and nationwide protests think we're a bunch of cowardly, slothful, corrupt hypocrites??

9. Or, maybe they're in part people who were prejudiced against us in the first place
This just gives them reason to yell about it.

If you REALLY think we're all cowardly, slothful, corrupt hypocrites (including Jon Stewart, Bill Moyers, Al Gore and the millions of Americans working for peace and justice ... and yourself), then I suggest you may be a bigot yourself. Either that or you need to find new friends. lol

11. That wasn't a personal attack at all
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 08:43 PM by melody
It was, instead, a statement of fact. It would apply no matter the focus of your
prejudice -- be it French people, African people, gay people, or any other group
of people including Americans.

Incidentally, you made a very sweeping personal attack against me, my friends and
family. You called us all cowardly, slothful, and corrupt hypocrites. How is THAT
NOT a personal attack? I merely suggested, that if you believed those things, you
MIGHT be a bigot. You told me (and my family) we were all of the above. And if you
believe that, without knowing the person, that is prejudice, which is bigotry.

19. You apparently have a reading disability ...

... or some mental dysfunction that prevents you from comprehending written English. So, let's make it simple: Go Fuck Yourself! You saw the foo shit and wore it ... all on your own.

See? That's not a personal attack - it's just friendly advice and an observation of fact.

No, I have a masters degree with a minor in English. I write for a living. I understood
clearly what you were saying. You don't seem to have, however, understood the implications
of your comments. You've not only insulted 300 million innocent people, you've proven your inability to conduct yourself on a message board.

Welcome to my ignore list.

At least the other poster directed her comments at me. This childish
stuff isn't worth my time -- and doesn't do justice to Al Gore as your
avatar.

16. So, the Pax Americana isn't so easy after all!
If nothing else, this travesty should prove to those seeking an American Empire and Pax Americana that it simply doesn't work.
