Will B* annouce Cheney retirement during SOTU tonite ?
Looking at all that's going on , seems this would be a good time to shift the focus away from some of the more serious stuff...Iraq,Iraq, Iraq oh, did I mention Iraq ?

3. Well, if he wants real applause.........
And massive distraction....

But, no. He has to know that would make impeachment a done deal.

6. He'll probable fake a heart attack like his friend Kenny-boy, retire to some remote
island and the administration will lay all the blame on his sorry ass.

10. The SOTU would be a great opportunity for bush and cheney to resign......
from office. The SOTU would THEN be getting immediately better.

12. That would be very bad for Cheney, and dangerous for the Junta
If Cheney resigns, he is no longer protected from prosecution. Once he is no longer protected, they can force him to testify at the Libby trial under oath, be held in contempt if he refuses and be subject to perjury if he does not tell the truth. And not just the Libby trial, but on any other charge that might be brought against him.

Personally, I expect him to run as VP again in 2008, as that is the one and only way he can stay out of jail.

15. Not a chance...
not because it wouldn't be a good move, or the WH gang wouldn't consider it, but because making a "surprise" announcement would cause a firestorm of controversy without generating any brownie points for changing horses. If this were to happen, it would be done at a White House ceremony, following various leaks about Cheney's health situation, etc., and framing the recommended replacement as a responsible choice.

16. No, I don't think anything like that is planned.
But there is a chance Electric Dick will get so angry, he'll short-circuit, showering the floor of the House with sparks before finally vanishing in a puff of smoke.
