The United States is set to introduce a UN resolution today calling on governments around the world to condemn Holocaust denial.
The resolution, which is expected to be backed by around 40 UN member nations, comes just a week after Germany announced its intention to push for Europe-wide laws criminalising Shoah revisionism.
Introduced in the wake of Tehran’s Holocaust conference, the resolution is expected to be adopted before the end of the week.
Earlier this month, US-based anti-hate group, the Anti-Defamation League, called on UN leaders to speak out explicitly against the claims of Iran’s President Mahmous Ahmadinejad regarding the Shoah.
Glen S. Lewy, ADL National Chair, wrote to the UN: "As we approach the second annual Holocaust commemoration day at the United Nations, it is vital for the leadership to speak out forcefully against the Holocaust denial and anti-Jewish incitement that is spreading in the Muslim world thanks in good measure to the Iranian regime.”
