I'm just going to quietly mention that the word "lady" is hopelessly outdated and woman would be a much better alternative.

Velma - who is still annoyed about the Lady Raiders and the Lady Longhorns and the International Skating Union still referring to female skaters (both figure skaters AND speed skaters) as "ladies". *sigh*

I am a sports nut so much of my irritation over the word comes from it's continued use in that context. There's something fundamentally wrong with referring to womens' sports teams as "Lady" Whatevers. And the figure skating thing makes me absolutely INSANE in the context of a sport where it was only a couple of years ago that they stopped requiring female participants to wear a skirt and allowed them to wear trousers when they compete.
