Ted Stevens is not lying..
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 05:17 PM by SoCalDem
He says they paid "every bill that was givem to them..presented to them... with their own money"..

How "clintonian" of him .. What about the bills that never got "presented" to him?? or..how did he GET the money that became "his money"?

Shame on the so-called professional journalists who did not ask him those questions..

He probably would not have answered, but it would have been fun to see/hear him go ballistic :)

2. I agree! He's NOT lying -
He's just presenting an alternate version of the truth - you know, like Alberto Gonzales does every time he visits Congress!

3. Yep. KEY WORDS THERE..."Given to me."
Hopefully, there's a money trail. They must have something on him because they raided his house. Right?:)

5. They might find his secret stash of George W. Bush underwear he bought over the Internets.
"I... I ordered the underwear through the Internets, but it didn't arrive at my house in a dump truck - It arrived in a series of tubes!"

7. Those bills not presented to him must've gotten lost in the tubes
That's why he's having so much trouble sending an internet.

More problems brewing. Federal officials are also probing a series of earmarks pushed through Congress over the past several years by Stevens for an Alaska nonprofit tied to Trevor McCabe, a former Stevens aide and a business partner of his son, Ben, Roll Call reports in a story today. (The Roll Call link, http://www.rollcall.com/issues/53_15/news/19615-1.html)

The story quotes sources close to the investigation as saying the FBI and the Department of the Interior are focusing on how millions in federal funds earmarked for the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward were used and how more than $500,000 made it to McCabe.

From the ADN Alaska Newsreader today,
http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/newsreader/story/9181445p-9098085c.html

Going down, Teddie, going down.

And this Alaskan couldn't be happier, pork or no. Most of the pork benefitted only the wealthy few, anyway.

:hi: SoCalDem!

Edited to add another para from the ADN's Newsreader today: "Bookkeeper questioned. A Senate clerk who helped maintain Stevens' personal financial records was recently called before a federal grand jury in a public corruption investigation, The Associated Press reports. The wire service story also says the agents at Stevens’ home Monday were particularly interested in cases of wine stored at the house." The AP link, with a particularly priceless photo of Uncle Ted, can been seen in full here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070731/ap_on_go_co/stevens_investigation;_ylt=AvPg0gaJLKI9bdfxJTbTBZWs0NUE

This is not a very artful dodge, IMO.
