Why the heck haven't Democrats passed ENDA yet?

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act that would extend anti-discrimination protection, from the federal level on down, to gay and and lesbians. It failed by one vote in the Senate a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure that if you take into account that at least 3 Republicans in the Senate would vote for it, and probably 4, and the fact that we have a decent majority in the House, that it could pass Congress this time. And I really don't think Bush would veto it either.

So why not? It would take like a day to get this done.

1. Why bother if they can not override the inevitable veto?

I mean, the excuse of "not having enough votes" seems acceptable with regards to impeachment....

2. What makes you so sure Bush would veto it?

I for one think it's 50/50 that he doesn't. Maybe the Democrats could come up with some kind of compromise at least by passing a Republican friendly piece of legisaltion in exchange for Bush not vetoing ENDA
