just wondering . . . is there any issue -- any issue at all -- that will cause the Democrats . . .
to take a firm, irrevocable stand? . . . anything that will cause them to pull out all the stops, including a filibuster, cutting off funding, even closing down the Congress if necessary? . . .

they won't do it for impeachment . . . or for global warming . . . or for illegal spying by the executive . . . or for ending the war . . . or, thus far, for anything else that I can see . . .

but is there anything -- anything at all -- that they consider so serious, so critical to our nation (and/or the planet), that they'll take a solid stand and not back down, no matter what? . . . any issue that they'll stand up to BushCo and the corporations on and hold their ground, come hell or high water? . . .

and if so, what is that issue? . . .

just curious . . .

1. Yes. -- Corporate Campaign $$$, and plenty of it, for their re-elections.
(nothing else, only that... you can stop reading now.)

2. Nope. One would normally think treason would do it. But not
with this bunch.

4. The Webb Ammendment
I understand your frustrations...I'm there as well. But in some fairness, ALL the Senate Democrats voted for this ammendment, and I would expect a similar vote in the House. What stopped it? Who decided our troops don't deserve more rest? It wasn't Democrats...it was the WINOs and Repugnican enablers who will uphold a boooosh veto. They're more concerned with keeping "the base" happy rather than what's best for the country.

The "Democrats are spineless" has become both a talking point and self-fulfilled prophecy. I've watched the House regularly and have seen them move a lot of meaningful legislation that has ended up in limbo...the byproduct of the McConnell fillibuster and a booosh regime that knows it can count on a compliant corporate media and their Mighty Wurlitzer to keep their horde in line...preventing many bills from moving forward.

Let's see how the upcoming supplemental and how many budget bills get passed...and how. Yes, there are DINOs and Blue Dogs that need to be challenged (and are), but let's not sell Democrats totally short. Most Democrats I know are against global warming, want habeus corpus restored, either want timetables or to defund this illegal war for profit and a lot of other important issues...but there are 10 Repugnicans who stand in the way from moving the debate forward in the Senate and 17 (including Liebermann) who continue to enable this regime against the wishes of the American people. These people should be held accountable...and the light focused on them.
