Anyone calling me paranoid, or telling me I'm just anti-Ahmadinejad, pshaw.

I've been watching these last 30 yrs, watching politics. Seeing how things go. Who is running things and what they are doing. Just because I am highly suspicious or, ok, paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get us. My senator told me that voting aye on IWR didn't mean giving the bush cabal the right to invade Iraq. Now I am told that voting aye on Lieberman/Kyl doesn't give the bush cabal the right to attack Iran.

I don't trust them. They have proven over and over and over and over and over that they are NOT trustworthy. And you tell me I'm paranoid? Pshaw. If you disagree with my assessment of things, give me proof. If you prefer to just call me paranoid, I am not the one being a fool.

This latest has nothing to do with Ahmadinejad, except for the fact that he is the leader in Iran (and I very must dislike his policies). It has to do with the bush cabal and their untrustworthiness. Or would it be trustworthiness? They are trustworthy in that whatever they do, they intend to profit.

Paranoid? Pshaw.

1. Time will tell
just remember that the people who refused to believe the truth will ignore the fact that we told them so when it happens.

Being a doomsayer doesn't pay well enough.

10. And in a couple years they will all be having apopleptic seizures when they 'learn' of
the 'deceptions' that took us into Iran.

How dare the government lie to us again.

But even worse,

How dare the "citizens" of this country fall for such obvious horseshit, again.

What's that old saying again?

Fool me once:

This says it so well!

They Lie:

2. As Henry Kissinger said to a reporter who asked was the administration was acting paranoid
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 01:31 PM by whistle
...he responded, "Even paranoids have real enemies."

You just have to figure out which of your enemies are real and which are just in your own head :yoiks:

That was the Nixon administration they were discussing.

6. Good Luck
I tried to say the same thing. Said it poorly. Was referring to the government and not all of DU. I left one word out of this comment "Is that any reason to go to war?", while referring to A'man's holocaust denial. I meant that his holocaust denial may be a red herring while the government gins up another excuse to go to war. What a difference a missing word makes. I got my head handed to me. I was in effect saying (according to some) that anyone who criticized the Iranian prez wanted to bomb Iran (I never said that). I was saying all of DU wanted to go to war with Iran (I never said that). That next I would accuse one of the mods of being a fascist (something else I never did). I was just pointing out that we have all seen this before regarding Saddam/Iraq. The evil leader with WMDs. That's ALL I meant. I feel really bad about the whole thing and did sincerely apologize. Apparently that's not good enough. Now I'm sitting here crying. Again, I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say.

7. I didn't read that post/topic, stayed out of those. Hang in there.
It's been a bit of a wild time on DU recently, lots of heat. I got jumped on a bunch when I first started posting, had several topics flamey with the intent of straightening me out since I didn't post just right, or wrong wording, etc. It happens and hang in there, keep reading and posting and onward.

16. I see you are learning quickly which threads to
avoid like the plague!

I cried more than once when I first got here.

Please, Do Not let ANYONE Ever intimidate you enough to make you remain silent here.

It'll be alright. GD is NOT for a tender heart. Just remember it isn't really you they attack, it's the words you have written, even though it feels personal. If you don't word things exactly the way you mean it you leave yourself open.

Welcome candymarl! :hi:

17. Thanks Vickiss
I'm usually tougher than this but I've had a bad year (illness and such). It's just that some folks seemed to take such delight in being mean and twisting words (believe me I'm well aware it's not just me). To me that's not honest disagreement. It's cruelty for cruelty's sake. I was raised that there's no excuse for that. Thanks again for the welcome!:hi:

18. Sometimes it's hard to grok how you ended up in someone's crosshairs.
Usually, I launch into an all out flame-fest whenever a random post makes my head spontaneously explode (- it does happen) and not because I'm really thinking about the issue or because I'm motivated by cruelty.

But unless they are just being disruptive trolls, it's never good to go off on an angry rant with a new member. It's downright rude, if you ask me.

Welcome to DU candymarl! And try to give it right back to them when they deserve it.

I understand that we all (me included) can get a little dogmatic and harsh. That's ok cuz nobody died and left me in charge. Sorry for the delay in answering all the supportive comments (dinner fixin'). I do appreciate them and I'm gonna remember what my kids, now adults, used to tell me: Mom, you're a tough old broad. Of course the little parrots heard me refer to myself as such. That always did, and still does, bring a smile to my face.

22. I hear you candy! There's one, or ten, in
every crowd.

Glad you aren't taking it too personally. It took a year before I wasn't terrified every time I posted, expecting to be attacked. I've been jumped for posting about something I read 30 years ago, because I had no links.

I was raised by the Golden Rule also, and totally agree; no excuses for cruelty. It seems many believe they are in court!

Peace,

V :hi:

9. Ahmadinejad isn't even the leader.
The president's role in the government is subordinate to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Ahmadinejad is more than a figurehead, but not a whole lot more. The representative democratic institutions of Iran are all subordinate to the theocracy's Assembly of Experts, lead by Ali Khamenei, which is most assuredly not Democratic. To the extent that the theocracy needs to appear to be legitimate, the democratic institutions hold some power. Ahmadinejad is useful to the theocracy or he would be gone, but he does not exercise real power.

14. Citizens aren't supposed to "trust" the government or politicians.
They aren't infallible, or a God ordained aristocracy, or, sadly, in most cases even honest.

15. Indeed, and we must continue to try to force them to represent us
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 02:32 PM by uppityperson
Politics is dirty business, and we must continue to contact them, criticize them, force them to listen and do what is right, represent us, beyond the politics.

Edited to clarify and add, I mean that I reserve the right to criticize any and all congressional representatives, regardless of whether they be rep or dem or indie or martian. We MUST continue to take part in the whole process, from voting to calling to writing, or else we deserve what we get. They are only supposed to represent us and we MUST continue to take part.

20. Its gone nuts here
Now people that attack Bush ion Iran have to preface their comments that they don't support Ahmadinejad, or aren't being anti-semitic. This whole Ahmedinejad debate on DU is embarrassing. Sad state of affairs.
