She kept sending "thanks for supporting me" replies when I sent her critical letters. Now she doesn't answer at all. Oh well. I'll let you know if I get a reply from Murray, sometimes I do.

55. I kept getting "thanks for supporting me" letters from Cantwell too
I wrote promising MS Cantwell that I would support her opponent in the primary after her pro-war vote for war in Iraq. I got back one those thanks for your kind thoughts and supporting me letters. I stopped wasting my time writing to her. Let the pro-war idiots support her. I voted for her opponent in the primary, but Cantwell in the general. She's less dangerous than the republicans, but I held my nose.
x(

Maybe Cantwell has gotten a clue. The pro-war people in Washington state will not get her elected.

Maria had to do without my vote last year because of her vote for the IWR.

Baird has decided that the "surge" is a good idea and is working.

Now, Murray?

They vote - so do I.

33. Obama shows a SERIOUS lack of leadership!
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 02:46 PM by calipendence
If he's trying to impress us that he should be "our leader", then he's been notoriously lacking in that category without even voting on issues that the rest of congress sees fit to take one side or the other on.

And if he's trying to make like this is his "bipartisan" or "nonpartisan" approach that leads him to vote this way, then I'm sorry, but that just doesn't cut it!

Obama, you're there to make decisions and convince others to follow you in how you vote. If you feel that neither a no or a yes vote should be cast, then it is up to YOU to lead the process to provide another ammendment to make it something you CAN support. Otherwise, you're showing lack of leadership there too!

And thanks for confirming that you ARE a warmonger Hillary!

We NEED Al Gore!!!!

A favorite, since it implies the complete lobotomy theory . . . that you DIDN'T know Bewsh was a pro-corporate, pro-fascist, anti-soldier, anti-American dictator hellbent on sending this country straight into the shitter, all so his ultra-wealthy handlers/friends can live in their gated bubbles far away from us soon-to-be-extinct untermensch. if they voted YEAH, there really is no excuse. As bad as Iran's leader may be and as crazy as things are in that country, they are not a threat to us. Our military should only be used when there is a clear and immediate threat to our country.

and I was very upfront with my questions both people who answered were very cordial, I said there are alot upset people out there, and did Senator Whitehouse and Senator Reed give their ok for invasion of Iran, they both said NO, and those passages were amended. But I made a point of saying there are alot of upset people out there. I also asked if Senator Reed would send out a Press Release regarding his vote they said they will tell him, and Senator Whitehouse's office said alot of people were calling.

Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 02:50 PM by charles t

Lugar has had a record of repeatedly sounding like he has finally had enough, and then, when push comes to shove, voting to enable Bush/Cheney every time.

It is probably premature to think that this might be a good omen, to think that he might be ready to use his influence to get us from the 55-56 range to over 60 on some of these critical war votes.

50. face it
If you take more than just this vote, but other votes that have a lot of Dem defectors, you can narrow it down to just a scant few senator's who seem to always do the right thing.

I may be missing a few, because some of them i'm not as familiar with, but the names I come up with are:

Boxer
Feingold
Kennedy
Kerry

Others probably in there are

Webb
Harkin
Brown
Leahy

And I'd pick Feingold as the #1 guy. Starting with his brave original Patriot Act stance, the guy is about as close to a perfect senator as we could get.

Webb, Leahy, Harkin, & Whitehouse are also in the cream of this crop. Bless em all, the 110th.

57. It never does any good to write or complain to my 2 Senators
Both McCain and Kyl don't give a shit about the voters in my state. I've written both of them several times about issues and votes. If I do get a reply (very seldom) it's a carefully worded one that has nothing to do with how the voters of this state (AZ) think or feel. They have the mindset that they were elected so they will vote however they want and fuck the voters who think differently than they do.

Arizona is slowly becoming Democratic but these 2 Senators think they have the same 'man-date' that Bush does.
