So who won in GM/UAW strike?

I read were GM will shed health care costs of retirees saving $50 billion. This was GM's main goal and they got it. Did UAW "cave"? I don't see the point in going on strike in the first place if they gave in this quickly. Did UAW get the guarantees they were looking for on job security?

2. From what I can tell, based on the preliminary reports, it's a good thing

Retiree health care will be provided by an independent trust that the company can't touch, meaning retiree benefits should be secure for at least 80 years based on current estimate. Both GM and the UAW were mum on the job security issues, other than Ron Gettelfinger (president of the UAW) saying that current UAW members would be pleased.

6. Not necessarily true.......

this could possibly be the beginning of the end of Health Care for retirees.......I've seen this before...Example About 10 years ago retirees of the United Rubber Workers saw their health care benefits decline and actually were required to pay a portion of those costs..Little by little those(premium) costs increased and now they have minimum coverage if any with no prescription coverage or with co payments and premiums so high they give it up.I cant say with any certainty that this will be the case with GM employees but it is following a pattern of other union retirees being left behind in the contracts shuffle.

7. I think UAW won

GM(and the rest of corporate America)blinked when the Teamsters joined in.
Some other Union should go on strike.Especially one with close working ties with another Union.
It is time for workers to start pushing back.
