It is Global Warming not Climate Change
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 09:35 PM by Botany
asshat can not even say the right phase but uses the
"focus group tested" softer word.

:grr:

1. Actually, climate change is more accurate.
There will NOT be uniform "warming", some areas may get much much colder, the weather will become more extreme. Overall average temps will raise, but local climates will simply change.

3. But overall ALL will be warmer!
Some drier, some wetter, some cooler but overall ALL will be on average warmer. That is inescapable. With Climate Change you might as well be talking about a new Ice Age the term is so inexact. The Earth is capturing and holding more energy, warming, all change stems from that fact. Why another term seems fitting may be personal preference but not any more accurate and to me decidedly less so.

15. If many climatologists are correct, while it may be warming NOW
in Europe they may well be looking at a mini Ice Age event (coupled with rising sea levels) in the long run (say 30 years from now).

Overall the earth will be warming. But climate change (and radical change at that!) is the accurate description (since the entire globe doesn't have a single descriptive climate).

7. Exactly.
Just because Bush says something, it does not follow that it is incorrect.

In this case "Climate Change" is the correct term.

2. Damn straight
I have had debates here with "Global Climate Change" nomenclature over the more accurate Global Warming term. I suspect a paycheck is involved to promulgate the former along with some alternate interpretations of what causes the dramatic warming Al Gore charts.

8. All Climatologist call it "Change"
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 10:13 PM by StClone
Because "Energy Capture" is the Physical reality, and here I have to agree, the result is "Climate Change." Most climate will be affected with an increase in temperatures resulting in drier, wetter or stronger storms. I have not seen a clear cut reason other than the branch of Science you adhere to.

10. How?
As I said a new Ice Age is a Climate Change. Global Warming does not have that inherent confusion.

17. But the term "Global Warming" is only relevant as a term if the globe
warms up. To begin with, the "globe" doesn't have one climate that can warm up (as was noted upthread). Secondly, the effects of a rise in temperature run the gamut from causing a dramatic increase in temperature to a dramatic decrease in temperature, depending upon the location.

19. Globals means total
In the models I've seen onset of warming causes pockets of colder but NOWHERE is the climate to stay cold but increase in every region in the model progression. Second, the gamut all come from and all include warming.

11. Actually Al Gore prefers Climate Crisis
over global warming

I saw Bush's Climate Change as appeasing 1/2 of congress while at the same time back handing them.

18. While the currents changes are now a slow and progressively warming of the environment...
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 12:39 AM by originalpckelly
as well as a slow but consistent retreat in glaciers worldwide, on the local level their are areas which will be warmer, some colder, some not really on average different, but with wildly unpredictable weather.

Not only that, but there is a chance there may be a massive cooling if the loop current slows down or stops.
