Even for the shrub, this is an extremely poorly delivered speech.
No energy, lousy diction, monotone. I did not expect anything THIS bad.

Even now, talking about the terraists. Amazing.

2. It's bland
It's the speech that only a Lame Duck would give. He's trying to sound like his old circa 2000 "Compassionate Conservative" self.

4. That's what I hear too
Which is kind of okay actually. Maybe he's not dreaming up new nightmares to inflict and divide.

9. Notice he only mentioned Social Security privatization once
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 09:44 PM by Ignacio Upton
Under the general guise of "save our entitlements." Last year, when he said that Congress failed to pass his privatization proposal, the Democrats in the chamber stood up and clapped mid-sentence. He's been pwned!!!1111!!111

14. 2004 he introduced gay marriage
And proceeded to tromple over the lives of Americans with that claptrap. He tred lightly for sure.

12. What? You think he wasn't...
dreaming up nightmares when he did it before? Don't be naive. He's still got two years, and the cynic in me believes that he'll us that time to do as much damage as he can. I mean, what does he care? He doesn't have to run for re-election....

I'm sure he would have loved to have phoned this in. This is just horrible, even for him.

6. Chimpie Can Dish it Out
but he can't take it.

Just another reason why he's a phoney piece of excreta.

And he could never read the damned Teleprompter. I've always thought he was reciting his speeches from memory -- a dyslexic gets lost reading a Teleprompter, eh?

7. He said "nukular", I had to down a schnapps.
I don't see that this speech delivery is better or worse than usual. The speech is just a series of one-liners designed around a "pause for applause". There's more clapping on the Democratic side of the aisle than I would have guessed.

8. Bush was reportedly
depressed when his "surge" speech was rejected by the vast majority of Americans. His supporters had hoped that the state of the union would give him an opportunity to get back on track, and that it would pick his spirits up. But the news from even republicans in Congress has been bad for the guy. And today's focus on Cheney must have been an unwelcome reminder for him of how far his administration has fallen.

At least he has slowed down a bit... Earlier it was like he had a hot date to catch.

Plus the content is just so bland and predictable...

11. Did you see the Hillary Interview on KO?!
She makes him look like the drooling monkey that he is. She was poised, articulate and intelligent.

13. well, it doesn't take much.
still, I did think hillary did an "okay" job. I still don't trust her and she didnt' answer satisfactorily or dodged on a couple of the war questions. Still, they were well-done dodges, so I guess she gets a few points for good form.
