These democrats are cowards, I am sick of this shit
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 09:56 PM by Pawel K
I know, I know, we need them right now. I hate to go on this rant but the fact that Nancy Pelosi just got up and clapped to Chimp's plan of sending more troops to Iraq is a total outrage. What the hell is she thinking? This is nothing more than appeasement of a terrible failed policy. Cindy Sheehan was absolutely right, we need some real change in leadership and we need it quick.

4. she didn't applaude at all- she certainly didn't stand!
She only applauded for the recruiting stuff-- as far as I understood it. She specifically was not applauding for the troop increase even though other dems were.

supporting the troops and recruitment stuff, not for the troop increase. I'm watching MSNBC.

51. It seemed ONLY MSNBC showed Pelosi's face throughout speech. CSPN & CNN blocked her face out mostly.
And what I saw of Pelosi's facial reactions throughout speech, generally speaking, she did A LOT of "lip biting"/teeth crunching. And a lot of stern looks...certainly NOT as enthusiastic throughout as many of her colleagues. Of all this, I was proud. And that Chimp HAD to recognize her power, and cozy-up to it...is something to smirk about.

Overall, the entire "production" nauseating.

Half the chamber pointedly sat on its hands while the other rose to its feet. It was SOOOOO obvious.

20. That phrase was carefully written to conflate...
...support for the troops with the decision to send more. If the Dems failed to applaud, they could be accused of not supporting the troops, which would have played very well in the Freeper press.

24. ALL OF YOU DENYING THIS READ THIS POST
I dropped my drink when I saw this and came to DU right after. I can't give you the exact transcript but here is how it went.

CHIMP: (shortly after talking about surge) We must finish the job we started in Iraq.

Right after this line she got up along with a lot of others (I'm sure a lot of those others were democrats)and clapped. I know what I saw and I know you saw this too. Its time to stop being apologists for this type of cowardly behavior. If they do not get their shit together its time to get rid of all them in the next primaries.

18. How about directing this misdirected anger at the REPUBS for once??
What the fuck has happened to DU this year? Half the threads are supposed Democrats and liberals attacking other Dems and liberals. The responsibility for all of this shit stops and starts with Bush and the repub congress of the past several years, and the PNAC. Why is it sooo en vogue to attack our own party and candidates? Do people here think it makes them look urbane? maverick? psuedo intellectual? All it makes us look like is losers... as in losing the White House in 2008.

I'm tiring of the attacks on our party. That's what Sean Hannity, and the Freepers, and Rush Limbaugh are for.

Could it be that another thousands americans died in this illegal war. And while they died and while they continue to die (along with thousands of inncent Iraqis) the people we elected to stop this war sit by and allow it to happen under their watch. I can not stand this insanity anymore, this bullshit needs to end.

40. You don't get it do you
this has nothing to do with the repbulican agenda. It has to do with appeasing the neocon agenda of world dominance. She stood up and clapped at the suggestion of keeping our troops in Iraq until the job is done. This has nothing to do with health care, taxes, education. This has to do with allowing this asshole to get away with killing hundreds of thousands of people.

It doesn't mean a thing at a damn speech. What matters is when they're on the job, submitting legislation, hearings, subpoenas and so on.

I'm not going to get all worked up over what her and the other dems do at a speech that has a 20 minute shelf-life.
