Verdict: Guilty in Allen case
Lawmaker vows to appeal conviction, but colleagues urge him to quit

VIERA - State Rep. Bob Allen sat stone-faced Friday as each person in the six-member jury confirmed his or her guilty verdict on a single misdemeanor count of solicitation for prostitution.
But the seven-year Merritt Island Republican still adamantly maintains he did not agree to pay $20 to perform a sex act on undercover Titusville police Officer Daniel Kavanaugh.
When the verdict was announced, Allen reached back, over the partition, and touched his wife's hand for a moment. Beth Allen has been a constant presence in Allen's legal proceedings, most recently spending the five-day trial in a seat behind the defense table.
"We are continuing to seek justice," Allen said afterward. "I am innocent. I have done nothing wrong. My family, my God and my good constituents know that."
