Finally saw 'Sicko' tonight. Moore was not very flattering of Hillary.
Said that after she became a senator she took a lot of dough from the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

Another reason for me not to support her.

1. i saw Sicko last night and really liked it, his trips to London and France were
very funny and maddening and back here at home the stories were heartbreaking.

3. I was dissapointed that he did not go into detail about how much in taxes their plans cost.
He only said that some of them make very comfortable livings. But still what we end up paying for our present system has got to be more than their's.

5. i agree, he never stated what % they pay which i think he should have but to be honest
i figured things might get a wee bit exaggerated or not touched upon but overall i thought it was very well done and the best part is that all 10 copies at my hollywood video were gone, all rented but the clerk there held one back for me.

2. I still haven't seen it. I went to the local video store last weekend and
asked about whether they'd have it. The person at the counter had not a clue, asked me to spell the title. :eyes: I kid you not. The ignorance can be staggering. And no, I don't think it will be offered in (south) Houston.

7. You may want to consider buying a used DVD from amazon.com

The vendors usually are excellent and it comes very fast. I see they now have used Sicko for about $15. I should have waited, but wanted to add it to my other Michael Moore movie collection.

I finally watched it last night also. More than ever I want to move to France, or Canada. But I start wondering how long they will continue with paid health care with two bush lap dogs running those countries also.

What a mess we're in.

:hi:

6. I haven't seen Sicko yet
and haven't picked a candidate. That said, the health care industry and pharmeceutical companies should not all be considered enemies and demonized. Whoever is elected will have to work with these agencies and I would like it to not have to be in an adversarial role.

I am glad I have health insurance, everyone should. I don't hate my insurance provider. They paid the bill for three ER ambulance runs for me without a hassle. THe drugs they make do me a lot of good. Yes, they make a profit and there are plenty of things that can be made better. I'm not arguing that.

But I don't hate these groups. I'm glad I didn't live 100 years ago because I wouldn't have made it to 58 back then.

Drug companies should not be given cate blanc to do what they want, but if we want to continue our progress on curing desease and extending our lives then developing a positve working relationship with them would be a good thing.

8. The main point of Sicko is that ou health insurance companies are controlling care.
And not your doctor. The righties have always said that the government would control decisions under a national health system.

Which is worse?

11. Controlling care? They are deciding who NOT to cover. It's really appalling.
I posted an article recently about this, in the past few days, but can't figure out how to find it.

12. That has to change
Everyone should get care. But I am not assuming that Hillary is some sort of bad guy in all of this.

18. With Hillary, it won't change.
Her 'mandated health insurance for all' still leaves all the decisions in the hands of people who profit most by doing the least. All her plan would do is make the insurance industry richer.

23. She has taken more PAC money from Insurance and Pharma
Than any other candidate, Democratic or (R).

She is second on the Senate list to RIck Santorum in the same category.

Yes, she is an enabler.

Democratic President, Democratic Congress, Democratic Senate -- yet the Insurance/Pharma lobbyists were able to kill her last health care plan. Now, they own her.

16. Please, bookmark your post, then get a copy of Sicko and watch it.
I'd love to see what you say AFTER seeing it.

As a state employee, I also have decent insurance which I'm very grateful for. But why should I be at ease, knowing that my sister (a freelance massage therapist) and my two daughters (housewife, and single unemployed, respectively) do not have insurance, cannot afford insurance, and live in dread every day of ANYTHING happening?

It just doesn't seem fair.

9. I loved the movie...I just got the DVD the day it came out...
but I think I shall reserve judgment (on Hillary) for the time being. I want to see what our candidates have to offer before making a decision on whom to support.

14. Hello El Supremo...
I've been reading some of the posts, and see that at least one or two people here have already made up their minds on whom they are supporting. Seems as if there is quite a bit of excitement as DUers post their opinions on the shortcomings of their own candidate's adversaries. I assume the debate sometimes gets a little heated? Should prove to be fun reading.

Thanx for the welcome.:hi:

15. Criticism not that severe
Especially since Moore and Clinton stand in simialr places on most issues, and also when compared to the criticism others have received in the past from Michael.

It was even more painful for me, though, hearing this criticism from Michael Moore, since one of my favorite chapters from his books was his stalwart defense of her in a chapter entitled, "My Secret Love for Hilary Clinton."

Seeing that number over her head in "Sicko" was like a suckerpunch to the stomach. I still like her more than I like any of the Republicans, but my trust sure ain't one-hundred percent, either.

She is the overwhelming consensus candidate and you will march yourself obediently to the polls and pull the proper lever.

20. The election is still almost a year away.
Lots of things can happen. But if she ends up to be the Democratic candidate and there is not a third party who really could win....

I'm focused on my state caucuses and primary right now. And I will not support Hillary.
