Want to see a New America? Want the promises of our youth to be resurrected--to live in a land where everybody matters and occasionally harsh truths trumps the power of pretty lies? Do you want to see an America where labor is not relegated to a second tier behind capital as a way to invest in the future? Where workers aren't automatically discounted as being of value? Where corporate "persons" are given more rights and fewer responsibilities than the kinds of persons who live and breathe and age and die?
You're going to have to fight for it. So called "moderates" and "centrists" are poisoning the well, dragging the dialogue into realms where it doesn't belong. And, yes, it happens here as well. There is nothing "moderate" or "centrist" about feeding the monster. The monster is corporatism, the theory that somehow the wants and needs of already-powerful multi-national corporations and industry are somehow more important than the wants and needs of the average American.
Some call us "far left loonies" or "ideological purists" because there are issues on which we do NOT want to compromise. Funny that we're being insulted for objecting to being sold down the river, handed a corrupted bill of goods, or purchasing a pig in a poke.
Democrats who are willing to continue along the dangerous path we are now on, one that leads to imperialistic expansionism, continued growth in outsourcing, unfair taxation, and a lack of serious debate on climate change and what lawmakers can do to stem the tide, are NOT our allies. They're scorpions in our midst, stinging us and sapping our strength when we most need it.
We often throw around the term "DINO," but let's be honest. The people we charge with this crime are not Democrats In Name Only, but Wrong-Way Democrats. They are Dems who have made their own deals with the devil and offer us, the people, the choice between Republican Imperialistic, corporatist power, and the same wearing a Donkey badge.
There is nothing wrong with industry and corporations that real regulation and oversight can't fix. It is not impossible to force or entice them into acting for the greater good rather than the bottom line. But it will take the will and the foresight to act now rather than allowing those who have been bought and paid for and those who voluntarily shill for them to weaken our resolve.
Never forget. WE rule America. Not the politicians, not the corporations, and certainly not the weak or corrupt. Not when it's all said and done.
It's easy for us to forget that, particularly with the media shouting in our ears all the time and deafening us with their constant barrage of bullshit. But the media would be king-makers, but they've already shown that they can hardly be trusted with the job.
You see a scorpion, step on it. And anyone who objects? Chances are they're crawling with the little venomous bastards themselves. Don't trust 'em. If we're going to get stung, at least make them do it while our eyes are wide open.
