They warned us about the loony left who were exaggerating the threat posed by global warming. Then the scientists told us that the threat of global warming was much worse than anyone predicted.

They warned us about the loony left that told us that the Bush administration was spying its own citizens. Then we found out about the warrantless wiretaps.

They warned us about the loony left that was wasting our tax money on frivolous government programs. Then we saw the Republicans build massive deficits while they spent our money on Halliburton and Blackwater contracts.

They warned us about the loony left who was too politically correct and refused to say anything that would offend anyone. Then we saw the religious right launch advertiser boycotts because they were offended over the mildest of innuendo.

They warned about the loony left who insisted that gay marriage would not bring God's wrath against this country. Then a few gay couples got married but Armageddon did not hit us.

They warned us about the loony left who told us that the war on drugs could not be won. Then after many billions of dollars spent over a course of several decades drugs remained as plentiful as ever.

They warned about the loony left who said we were consuming too many fossil fuels and believed that we run into problems if we did not start conserving. But we just kept consuming more and more, and eventually we ran into big problems just like the loony left warned.

They warned us about the loony left. I warn you about those who mercilessly attacked the side that turned out to be right on every issue of major national importance.
