I just bought the entire campy set two years ago and as I was pulling them down from the attic to use again, I couldn't help noticing they were, "Made In China." The paint on the set does come off easily if you scrub too hard, which is why I handwash everything myself.

Anyone know if there is any lead content on these dishes?

1. Is this food-ready stuff?
As in "dishes"?

If the paint flakes easily, stay the hell away from any food use associated with whatever "Publix Pilgrims" is.

7. I'm going to take your advice, but how many people in the South east
aren't even going to think twice about it?

14. Yeah, no sh*t.
By the time that crap hits the public, it is too late.

I have become so gun-shy over this that all of my plates, bowls and cups and saucers are by my local Angry Lesbian Potter (that is how she bills herself).

And most of my pots and pans were my Grandmother's.

20. SF Bay area.
I live in Tiburon, CA, directly across the Bay from San Francisco.

I am 110 feet above the Bay and every view from my house is directly at SF.

25. Yes, it is...

Here is the view from Sausalito.

My house is on the hill above the point of Belvedere.

If you had the vantage point of the photog, the Golden Gate would be behind your left shoulder and SF would be over your right shoulder.

It is indeed a magic place.

my quality of life was as fine as my view.

Contrary to lore, location really isn't "everything".

3. PHOTO: You might try contacting Publix directly. One site says they were discontinued in 2006.
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 08:46 PM by Audio_Al

This site says, and I quote: "As of 2006 Publix will be officially retiring the famous Pilgrim line. So get your order in this year if you like the Pilgrim items!" But perhaps they were not retired at all!

They are still being sold on-line as you can see from this link:

9. That would be right. They meant to discontinue them the year before
that, but they extended it one more year.

6. I would expect they would.
They were big crowd pleasers for families with small children. I finally broke down and bought them because my kids expected to see them since their Auntie had them at the Thanksgiving dinners we use to share with the family.

15. You're welcome. Radio Lady says, "When in doubt, use something else."
We used to have a test kit which supposedly tested for our dish safety.

Then we found out the kit didn't work.

So much for that.

Our dishes are made in Mexico. I hope they are poisoned with habanero sauce!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
