There's no way he's going to even get past the nomination stage in our American Idol type culture.

2. He not only looks old, he looks unwell.
Could be a big problem for him. I'm kinda rooting for Sam "Fish in a Barrel" Brownback.

3. Looked Like He Was Sleeping
At one point, I think when Dubya was talking about the war on terror the NBC cameras cut over to McCain and it looked like he was asleep.

11. I believe he was sleeping
wonder if anyone nudged him when it was time to leap out of his seat and applaud wildly?

4. I concur--he looks sick.
He looked pallid and drooping the entire time.

I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

6. Yeah, the "Hardbloggers" were blogging about it in the creeper
on MSNBC. They said he was asleep and it wasn't good for someone who is 70 years old to look anything but absolutely alert and vital in public.

7. It was Tucker Carlson on Hardbloggers:
Imagine that you’re John McCain. You’re running for president for the second time, and this time you’re widely considered the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Knowing that, you’ve got to expect that whomever is directing the television coverage of tonight’s speech is going to point the camera your way. You’re going to be on primetime TV, no doubt. With that in mind, you’re going to want to stay awake. If you’re McCain, who will be over 70 by 2008, you’ll want to make doubly sure to demonstrate your alertness and vigor. You definitely won’t want to slump in your seat, out cold, when Bush starts talking about Iraq. And yet that’s exactly what McCain did tonight, napping on camera for ten agonizing seconds. Lack of self-control? An expression of contempt? Embarrassing in any case.

9.  He did look like he had woken in the middle of the play and had
no idea what the plot was about.

8. He always looks sickly pale, too.
Pale and flabby. What do you want to bet a tan appears for the first time as the race heats up.

10. I think he had some skin cancers removed. Getting a tan is out.
He is pretty ghosty -- but he and I share similar ancestry, and I can relate.

When it's time for the debates next year he should be sure to have the makeup artist put some color in his face.

Dude has looked seriously UNWELL for the last year and a half or so.

I suppose I hope that they would nominate him too, even though I don't think it will happen. I can't see how there's any way he gets elected.
