Biden won't Serve as Secretary of State, for Any Administration.
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - Joe Biden is complaining that his foes keep saying he'd be a great secretary of state.

Nothing wrong with that job, he says, but he's running for president. And if he'd be better at foreign policy than his rivals, well, why in the world shouldn't he be president instead of them?

Biden, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is widely expected to be on the short list for secretary of state if one of his Democratic rivals wins the White House. Maybe if a Republican wins, too.

But he said Thursday, speaking at a forum on Iraq: "Under no administration will I accept the job of secretary of state."

A voter had asked the Delaware senator what he would do to restore U.S. credibility in the world.

"That's the president's job," he said. "I know a lot of my opponents out there say I'd be a great secretary of state. Seriously, every one of them. Do you watch any of the debates? 'Joe's right, Joe's right, Joe's right.'"

1. If Biden's poll numbers continue to rise as they have in Iowa, it will be
Biden doing the hiring for that position.

He's at 8% now in the ARG poll.

By all counts, his autumn campaign there has been very effective.

2. I agree with Biden (big surprise), but I just can't see him taking direction from
someone who hasn't been down in the foreign affairs trenches as much as he has. It should be the other way around. I don't see him keeping his mouth shut to further a questionable decision the administration might make, either. (Powell) As much as they all truly seem to respect one another, I think it could be a contentious relationship.

7. I think he would do that well. Maybe not as charismatic as Powell
but with the same integrity, that's for sure.

foreign plicy experince and ability. Think about it. Two foreign leaders just called Joe before they talked to Shrub. They just as easily have called Condi, huh? They didn't!

14. I just think Joe is another right-wing fool. smarter fool though.
what kind of experience supports a war resolution like Joe did? (at the urging of Powell and Rice)

while joe was votin for that, really smart people were marching against the war.
he is a total dumbass.

and his plan for Iraq now? don't get me started. He has no fuckin business deciding the future of Iraq.

13. Foreign leaders currently call Biden, not Rice.
He is already doing a good job as Sec of State.
Rice, like Bush, sucks at her job.
