I'm going to side with the ladies on Nancy
I like her. Just take a look at the two previous speakers before we won in November. Is there any comparison? Ugly, incompetent, corrupt, fat, lying, worthless slobs versus Nancy?

1. Sorry to be shallow, but just on aesthetics ALONE it makes one so relieved to be out of the
Hastert era.

5 million Rush/Hannity cracks about Hilary's "cankles" and Amy Carter's appearance allow me to say this as a small measure of karmic retribution. ;)

2. Nancy should be the woman running for prez..she is class all the way.
smart and chic. cool and able to herd those independent minded dems in to be untied, she inspires women everywhere.
I think nancy pelosi is the best

7. Why should she be "THE woman running for office"?
The field is wide open. We can certainly have another woman or two or three running. Just because Hillary's in doesn't close the door. Women have no limit. The more people who enter this race, the more issues will be raised and fully vetted.

3. There is no comparison. Nancy wins hands down.
I know there is so much work in washington to set straight let's hope this speaker can get things moving back towards helping all United States citizens, and not just those who own a corporation.

4. She presents herself as complete class and dignity.
I dislike mentioning these things because we never mention then about the male gender...usually. She looks like fresh air compared to * and VP Darth Vader up there. Go Madame Speaker. She would be an excellent Madame President.

5. I know men are not seen the same but, I do love it when they say she is
chic and looks great. I guess at my age, it's inspiring to know when I get to her age I can still knock them out.
Doesn't make you feel you are passing by....

...I think Speaker Pelosi is just gorgeous.

I have always admired strong, powerful, intelligent and beautiful women.

She would make a great president.

I haven't heard that expression for years. "The Ladies" were the ones my mom went out to lunch with.

25. She's a Member of the House of Representatives, not a Senator.
Although she'd be a fine Senator, IMO.

And yes, she is very easy on the eyes. A fine lookin' woman, indeed! (who is also a grandma)

17. watched with daughter
She cheered each time Madame Speaker clapped...high.
She decided that when Madame Speaker clapped her hands high it was a good thing and when Madame Speaker clapped her hands low (or politely) it was not a good thing.
Pretty historic for the women to see her up there and worth the late night TV time with my daughter.

daughter in five years or so. My girl is only 17 mos. old now.

It made me feel damn good to see her up there.

34. Think "Baby Einstein"
Personally, I did not "do" the Baby Einstein stuff.
I let her watch public TV Arts Alive -
But, if exposing babies to that works, why wouldn't it also work to see a woman up there in power?
I'm sure you can find and save a video of the begining and play it for her today!
I think I'll do that for Junior, too.
A "re-play", a la football, as it were...

28. It's not just the ladies that like Speaker Pelosi. She has plenty of fans of both sexes.
Intelligent, composed, graceful and strong. What is not to like about that? To hear "Madame Speaker" was an absolute thrill. Perhaps it is time to revisit the Equal Rights Amendment.

29. There is a pro ERA group now working on a 3 state strategy to get
the ERA ratified. They contend that there really isn't a deadline on ratification of the ERA that was introduced and passed by Congress in the late 70s but failed to get 3/4 of the states' ratification. I occasionally get emails from this group, but I haven't for a while.

I think if you google ERA you might get the latest on this group, since I am forgetting their official name.

31. Why would this need to be drawn among gender lines?
If Pelosi does well, I will commend her, not because she is a woman but because she is competent.

If Pelosi does not do well, I will criticize her, not because she is a woman, but because she deserves criticism.

Not too sure I get the emphasis on gender for no other reason than we have broken the glass ceiling in this area which is wonderful, but being a woman will not protect her from legitimate criticism from me or others just as being a man did not protect the previous speakers.

32. This gentleman must have missed something. Nancy was the best for the job
And it's about time we didn't have to settle for lesser qualifications just because the best person for the job posessed a vagina.

Remember that two speakers you reference were both Republican. Consider if that might have had some bearing on the character traits you listed.
