Anybody seen this one going around?
Received in an E-mail today.

IN ORLANDO LAST WEEK, AT A CITGO STATION REGULAR WAS PRICED AT
$2.82 PER GALLON, NO CUSTOMERS, HOWEVER ACROSS THE STREET

FUEL WAS SELLING FOR $2.85 PER GALLON AND ALL PUMPS THERE HAD
CARS WAITING TO FUEL.

Have you noticed how the CITGO signs have disappeared in the
past 7-8 months? Very clever move by Chavez. But guess what CITGO IS

CHANGING ITS NAME...this is serious Americans...make sure you read

NEWS FLASH:

Chavez is NOW getting a Russian Weapons Factory built by
Putin. The ! RUSSIANS are building an AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle
factory in Venezuela, to give armament support to Communist Rebel groups
throughout the Americas.

Chavez NOW has IRANIANS operating his oil refineries in
Venezuela for him. It is likely only a matter of time, if not already,
before Chavez has Iranian built LONG RANGE missiles, with a variety of
warhead types aimed at: Guess Who?

CITGO is NOW in the process of Changing Its Name to PETRO
EXPRESS due to the loss of gasoline sales in the USA due to the recent

publicity of ownership by Chavez of Venezuela. Every dollar you
spend
with CITGO or PETRO EXPRESS gasoline will be used against you, your
basic human rights, and your freedoms. He will start wars here in the
Americas that will probably be the death of millions.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT because Chavez ! Is starting to feel the
loss of revenue from his holdings.HE OWNS CITGO. This is a very

important move that everyone should be aware of.

ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN

DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CITGO-CHAVEZ ", HAVE

STARTED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES TO: "PETRO EXPRESS"

DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS" EITHER!!! "PETRO EXPRESS" IS ALSO 100%

OWNED BY "CHAVEZ." KEEP THIS MEMO GOING SO THAT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS

HAPPENING.BOYCOTT "CITGO" AND "PETRO EXPRESS"

MAKE SURE THIS IS PASSED ON TO EVERYONE IN YOUR E-MAIL LIST IN

THE UNITED STATES AND OUTSIDE OF AMERICA.

14. How idiotic.
I'm sure if we don't buy Venezualian oil, the Chinese will be happy to do so.

Colored letters sprinkled with gif images makes it even more truthy.

5. Wake Up!
I totally disagree with your post.

You need to wake up to the realities of what YOU do every time you fill your tank up. Doesn't matter who you buy your gas from. Every time you fill your gas tank up You are helping to prop up gas prises in the world oil markets. You are helping to fund terrorism and pollution.

There is no getting around that fact.

Want to do something?

As a nation we should be driving smaller cars, using public transportation and demand that Our government, forget about Chavez, quits going to war with the world and instead use that money to develop some useful, sustainable, environmentally friendly, energy sources.

It's not Chavez that's the problem, it's us.

Wake up.

17. I drive less that thirty miles a week.
This was an e-mail from a co-worker who is slightly right wing and mostly ignorant of the reality of our situation, not withstanding his thirty plus years in the petroleum business as a salesman, and he ignores the fact that we sell a lot of Citgo products as well.

A letter oozing with short-sightedness, finger pointing, advocating some divisive political position.

Trade mark of the right wingers.

Let's pray we see the last of these buffoons when Bush leaves office.

We've got some real issues to deal with.

Have a good one.

6. What is it with rightwingers and their sick addiction to lying?
I *NEVER* see emails like this with a left wing position that is all lies.

Hell, I hardly ever see left-leaning chain emails at all.

But I see rightwing poorly-written racist/xenophobic/exceptionalist/triumphalist emails like this ALL THE TIME.

What is in the mindset of rightwingers that they are willing to sit down and create paragraphs of lies and spread it around?

I'm no fan of Chavez, but even I don't think he's looking to buy missiles to launch at the US. He's a bit of a fuckwit, but he's not fucking stupid.

13. Well, Citgo is owned by Venezuela, not Chavez.
If in fact they rely on Iranian petro expertice for their technical support, well, they have to get it from somewhere.

So I can fill-up at "Petro Express" without any of my money going to the Republicans? Sounds all right to me.

21. Here was my reply to my coworker
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 04:16 PM by DiktatrW
who sent me this:

Yeh, I have read all that stuff before, the problem with these type of mailings is they rely on mostly half truths at best. Reading the words of the speaker in the context they were given is important.

Chavez is the only elected leader in OPEC, we also use a large percentage of Citgo products in the asphalt we sell daily. Since he lost the reforms election yesterday that means he is not a dictator, they don't lose elections. As for the AKs and such, I doubt the Venezuelan peasants he gives them to are going to swarm the Texas boarders and overthrow the US government anytime soon, that seems to be something we do in his country.

Snopes has seen many variants of this E-mails over the years, and for the most part they are all partisan tripe.

16. I don't care what they're called. I just want stations near me again.
CITGO is the only oil co. credit card I have, and I will always buy it in preference to others, when it's available. But CITGO pulled out of North Texas -- the nearest station is in Austin.
