The sentence that I loathe popped up again.
"Today, a merger was announced between Vedior and Randstad, creating the world's second largest interim employer. It is foreseen that in Belgium, there will be a restructuring of local offices of both. The impact of the merger is foreseen to be minimal on the personnel."

Yeah, sure.

Offices will close. People will lose their jobs. The service will be lower. Profits will go up, as will the share price. The bank mergers (and many others) have lead the way. And what "minimal impact" means, was proven in the case of Renault closing a major plant in Belgium, or the Sabena debacle.

The worldwide rise of temporary employment is just another way to screw people out of their full value (and hence, salary) and out of their benefits, and makes them dependent on the end employer's whim of the day.

I loathe these mega-mergers. It's always the same people who pay the price.

This is what they said about the Weyerhaeuser merger.
That it would benefit the employess. 2 months later, my father-in-law was laid off after over 28 years of service to the company. Hasn't found a job since.

5. Note the passive voice used throughout.
"A merger was announced." "It is foreseen. "There will be." "The impact of the merger is foreseen."

That's deliberate. So that there need be no identification of exactly who it is that made the decision about the merger, or who is foreseeing the restructuring or the impact.

If you don't know who's responsible for the decisions, you can't really lay blame.
