Some thoughts on expensive haircuts (John Edwards)
Something aside from all of the Venzuela threads :)

I was wondering about this recently: exactly how hard is it actually for a man in John Edwards' position to get a haircut?

I mean, any barber that would be allowed to wield sharp items really close to him must surely go through all sorts of screening and background checking before he would be allowed to do it (under close surveillance of course). At best, that would probably mean losing half a days work for the barber. I can see how it would be quite reasonable that it would cost 200 dollars. I'm not sure on the numbers but I would like to know what the common amount is that gets spent on haircuts by celebrities.

I have a feeling the RW made much a bigger thing out of this than its worth... (as usual)

1. And the expenses weren't all for the actual haircut
They reimbursed the guy for the time he took to travel back and forth to give the haircut. I really don't know why people had a problem with fairly reimbursing someone for time he took to come to John Edwards, whose schedule must be hectic. The hairdresser obviously wouldn't be able to do any other business during that time. So many services are provided on a pay-as-you-go basis. If you don't work for four hours, you just don't get paid at all.

3. No one has accused Edwards of having the taxpayers
pay for his haircut--or for taxpayers to pay for walking his mistresses' dog.

I think that what Edwards pays for a haircut is strictly between Edwards and the person who cuts his hair.

4. I pay a whole lot more for a haircut

relative to a percentage of my gross income then John Edwards. If its a right wing issue it will be steeped in inaccuracies and an intense dislike for the target and with the knowledge that their target audience will lap it up like little puppies at Momma's teats.

7. Then why bring it up again?

It's his money, he earned it and who cares?

There are much bigger issues to spend time worrying about then this.

It must be a slow news day....
