Right now, all the candidates, Dems and repukes alike are spending millions of $$$ trying to have a good showing in Iowa. The nomination will not be for another nine months. Right now, Gore is spending zero $$$ and still does very well in any poll in which he's even mentioned. It may be grasping at straws for me to believe this, but Gore is a smart man; if he starts late, he enters a field winnowed of the weak candidates, and fat on cash. No downside...

We've got a strong field. He would be the living definition of pompous to jump in after Iowa. And I love Gore.

4. No. by then for sure filing deadlines in many states and delegate deadlines have passed
Whoever wins Iowa will get a boost. Especially if it's not one of the acknowledged front runners like Hillary and Rudy. It takes more than cash to run for president you also need organizations in states set up and most of the tactical people who he would need would be with other candidates. No this is grasping at straws. Gore is not running in '08 and if he were to run I don't think at this late date he would do well.

7. Gore is NOT RUNNING! Are you going tostill be posting this junk
dream in October 2008?

I realize you think he would be the best candidate, but he's been through this crap. He has a nice life now and he's not interested in getting down in the gutter again and wrestling with the Pubs in the mud!

Hey, I know how difficult it is when you really believe in a candidate! I feel the same was about Howard Dean! I honestly think Howard would have won the General if the media hadn't decided to blow the Dean Scream completely out of context. But it didn't happen! I have to accept that, and deal with the candidates we have now.

8. It really is past time for you to give up any thought that Gore is going to run.
I heard him on NPR state in a manner that left no doubt in my mind whatsoever that he is definitely not running in 2008. Period.

Use your time to learn about all of the candidates who ARE running, and decide which one you want to support. I would have liked to see Gore run as well, but it just isn't going to happen - at least not this time around.

9. I think that
he can "wait" until after the '08 election, and he'll still be doing well.

17. I think the next President would do themselves well by trying to include Al in his Administration
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 04:31 PM by madokie
I'm not sure if Gore is interested in any of that or not though

Add: His or her whichever it may be

12. Brokered conventions are a thing of the past
When was the last time we had one? Actually there was more of a chance of a brokered convention when the bosses were running things, but since the reforms of the early 70s and the front loading of primaries a candidate is almost always selected in the primaries--well in advance of the convention.

... we must accept that he won't be running for president in 2008, doesn't want to. In his own words, he's a "recovering politician."

20. Not unless he is drafted at the convention.
Which hardly ever happens.

A draft hasn't happened in 55 years for either party, and the last guy who was drafted lost in part because his heart just wasn't in it.
