Connecticut to crack down on noose incidents

Connecticut plans to crack down on incidents involving hangman's nooses, a potent symbol of racist lynchings and hatred of blacks in the United States, the state's governor said on Tuesday.

Miniature replica nooses have been found in recent weeks at construction sites in West Hartford and Stamford following two separate incidents earlier in the year involving nooses at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

"We simply will not tolerate it," Gov. Jodi Rell told reporters, calling the nooses "repugnant."

"We're going to do what we can as a state. And if that means bringing in the department of public safety, our state police, and it means bringing in the chief state's attorney and the U.S. attorney, that's exactly what we're doing," she said.

Several U.S. cities and states have reported incidents in which blacks have been harassed with nooses this year, prompting a march by thousands of black Americans in Washington last month to protest against the criminal justice system.]/div]

2. Isn't it interesting though

that when a Black man hangs one and then creates a hoax to stir race problems, saying it was hung by others, no one appears to have anything to say about it? Is this not a hate crime in itself

As you might imagine, no charges filed.

4. It's not that it nullifies anything

but the silence is telling. It was meant to spark reaction against a race, but because that is the White race, no one seems to want to treat it like the crime it is.

And it would be very naive to call this the "One" hoax.

we are to get excited about a possible "spark" is against the white race but sit quite as clams while hundreds of nooses are being hung across the country?

FBI hate crime stats show that its NOT white america who should be concern about a 'spark'.

Why do you ASSUME that the hoax is condoned?

6. No, we should not sit quiet

for the real thing, ever, And I don't. Those who would hang one to intimidate Blacks need to go to jail, period. And those who would hang them falsely to feed the flames need to be in the cell next to the first guy. That Black fireman is getting a pass.

If a hate crime is a hate crime then it is always a hate crime. Anyone here who is willing to be silent over ANY crime like this is part of the problem.

And the hoax is condoned by the silence.
