It's quite sickening. I'm ashamed that's my government.

Ottawa gains key allies to 'move beyond Kyoto'
Canada, U.S. and Japan stress economics before environment at Bali

From Thursday's Globe and Mail

NUSA DUA, INDONESIA — They are fast gaining an image as the black-hatted villains of the Bali conference. Three countries – Canada, Japan and the United States – are sparking the greatest wrath of environmentalists in the early days of the conference on global warming.

There are growing signs that the Harper government has formed an unofficial troika with Tokyo and Washington at the negotiations. Using similar language in their statements, the three countries seem to have co-ordinated their message, stressing that economic growth is just as valuable as the environment.

In the most contentious move of the conference so far, Japan insisted it is “essential” for the world to “move beyond the Kyoto Protocol.” Just a few minutes later, in what appeared to be a prearranged move, Canada threw its weight behind the Japanese position, lending crucial support to Washington's refusal to sign the Kyoto treaty.

The move has ignited sharp criticism, and not just from environmentalists.

Harper truely is Bush. Watching the bs rhetoric from our Government on this issue continue as scientists warnings become more and more serious is distressing. They've even delayed a significant report from a federal agency which says the government must do more....who does that remind you of?

2. Hell yeah!
Environmental Axis of Evil. Has a nice ring to it.

The Canadian position on this makes me sick. We used to be a country that would come to mind when you think of a "Green" country. Not anymore - too much money in oil, particularly the kind we have in Alberta that is extracted in a CO2-unfriendly way.

Fuck Harper.

3. That son of a bitch has to go and SOON, imo
The Liberals better get off their asses and not just talk about maybe an election early next year, they need to damn well make it happen. The NDP have been useless, imo, at best since harper gained his minority government with Layton so obsessed with attempting to gain a few more seats from the Liberals and siding with harper.

I am totally disgusted.
