Treacherous Republicrat to helm Democratic Governors Association

Holy Joe Manchin, the "Democrat" currently serving as West Virginia's governor.
. A guy who campaigned on pledge to install the 10 Commandments in WV schools.
The same Manchin who in the 1996 Democratic primaries demanded that his opponent, progressive populist Charlotte Pritt, sign a pledge that she would support the eventual Democratic candidate....but when he lost the nomination to Ms. Pritt, Manchin went out and backed her GOP opponent, Cecil Underwood, a former coal mine executive and rightwing extremist who pushed to expand the environmentally destructive practice of mountaintop removal.
He's also an anti-union guy and anti-choice.
Consider yourselves warned. Manchin makes Lieberman look like the epitome of decency.

Gov. Joe Manchin has four goals in his new role as the 2008 chairman of the Democratic Governors Association.
Manchin says he wants to help Democratic governors who are up for re-election in 2008 and to keep the party's hold on two open seats in Delaware and North Carolina.
He also wants to help elect a Democratic governor in at least one state with an incumbent Republican.
Manchin's other goals are breaking the association's fundraising record of $18.3 million and laying a foundation for gubernatorial races in 2009 and 2010.
