While the CIA destruction of its 'interrogation' tapes is a travesty in it's own right - a clear attempt to hide a reality many take as a given - the Bush Administration's lies about an NIE - again - may well be the bigger issue. It's one more attempt by the White House to rewrite reality to fit a preset agenda.
As noted elsewhere, there's this compilation by a fellow DUer

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3094786 the neocon attack on the NIE has been swift.
Congress surely needs to chew gum and walk, politically speaking, on both of these. One is a matter of an apparent cover up, the other a matter of the trend to mislead the American public into another disastrous foreign enterprise.
It would do the country well to turn this internal bureaucratic strife the Administration is trying to squash to the nation's benefit. As Shakespeare said, the truth will out. And we'd all be better for a little truth.
