An open message to the religious right or anyone else

who objects to the new film, "The Golden Compass":

Enough already. It's a fucking movie. The first amendment gives the producers the right to make their movie and intimate whatever they want to in it. If you want to avoid the film, fine--that's your right. And it's the right of those of us who want to see it to do so.

It's okay when a movie goes over the top in its so-called "Christian" message, isn't it? Well, why shouldn't ANY religion --or non-religion--have that same kind of protection as well?

Someone close to me some years ago argued politics and religion on a regular basis. We stayed friends because our attitude was "just because we differ in opinion on something doesn't mean you don't have the right to express it, and I will defend to my death your right to say it."

This is part of our heritage--from the NON-Christian founding fathers--the right to express our own beliefs, our own choices and our own desires. It's part and parcel of the whole "freedom of speech" thing you assholes are always so eager to talk about--you don't mind spouting off at the mouth for YOUR rights on religion, morals and choices, but the nano-second someone expresses some opinion that's different, you run around like chickens with no heads.

Leave "The Golden Compass" alone. In fact, leave us ALL alone. Just because you're too tightly wound and have no respect for anyone who sees right through you and your transparent morals, doesn't mean that ANY of us should have to pay attention to you. This is supposed to be "the land of the free" so tough tooties to you. Learn to play nice and perhaps along the line, you'll earn some respect. I ain't saying it will ever happen, though. I can't see any of you people having any kind of scruples or ability to leave everyone to their own choices. It hasn't happened yet, and there is a lot of water under that bridge that can't just be ignored.
