Huckabee Wanted to Isolate AIDS Patients
By ANDREW DeMILLO – 13 hours ago
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk."
As a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in 1992, Huckabee answered 229 questions submitted to him by The Associated Press. Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies.
Huckabee said Saturday that his comments came at a time when "the AIDS crisis was just that — a crisis. We didn't know exactly all the details of how extensive it was going to be. There was just a real panic in this country. If I were making those same comments today, I might make them a little differently."
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hxRYbsXLsJm203WhovQF-FKimvlgD8TDJ6PG2So you thought that AIDS was dangerous yet OPPOSED FEDERAL FUNDING FOR RESEARCH. Sounds to me that our "Christian" friend figured that AIDS was a good way to kill off all the gays--Isolate them from the rest of the "normals" and let them die off is pretty much what I think his idea was..And this whole BS about making these comments a little differently..How so? Maybe you still think that funding shouldn't be given for AIDS since its only the immoral ones who get sick still? And we do know EXACTLY how dangerous AIDS is, its not like the issue has been solved. I would really like someone to get this weasel to clarify just WHAT he would change in his comments..The only good think about this guy maybe winning Iowa is hopefully mainstream America sees just what a maniac and bigot this guy is.....:scared:
