It's Stranger Than We Imagine
There is a lot of noise on DU today about how crappy/fantastically great our current crop of Democratic Congress people are.

I understand why there is such strong support for our Dems, no matter their performance - because a Democrat in power beats the snot out of a Republican in power any day of the week. Go, team!

And I feel it is equally easy to understand why there is a lot of anger towards our Dems - they are not acting like an opposition party, and they promised at election time that they would.

See, these are very, very, very bad times for politicians to make promises they cannot/will not keep. Very, very bad times for talk that is not fully backed up with action.

We've had 7 years of Bush/Republicans flaunting the law, the Constitution, our freedoms, life and death, the sovereignty of nations, money, money, money, money, money, money, terror/fear, etc.

Clearly, we've had enough, and the Dems in power right now KNEW THIS when we elected them in 2006.

They made promises to us, and then didn't keep them.

In "normal" times, this is accepted. In "normal" times, we shrug it off, joke about the "honesty of politicians," and go about our lives.

But these, are not "normal" times. Nothing in Bushworld, is "normal."

So all of you folks out there that cannot understand why so many faithful Democrats are fed up - simply put, we lack your endless patience.

And to speculate as to why our Dems, who have the full support of the public majority to kick Bush and his cabal to the curb of history, refuse to stand up in any meaningful way, I can only say this: The real reasons for their lack of spine, their collaboration, their silent assent, or whatever you want to label it, is probably a whole lot stranger, than we imagine.

And never forget - Bush has ALL of their secrets...you don't think he was actually listening exclusively for terrorists - do you?

2. Well said
These are not normal times. Not at all. We need change and we need it soon before it is too late.
