What does GD and GDP remind you of lately?

I see a lot of people on all sides bashing our great field of Democratic Candidates and hitting nothing. I know I am guilty myself on occasion, but it's getting ridiculous. Anyway just my 2 cents.

32. Excellent.
I never responded out loud to a post before-- but when I read that little "No." I just said "Excellent" out loud.

7. Criticizing is fine.
Throwing poo, is quite another.

That is mostly what I see. Some people make great points without resorting to launching all out poo attacks. The vast majority of posters in GD and GDP however seem to love the smell of their own S&*$.

16. Examples?
Seeing as what you equate to "poo-slinging" isn't necessarily everyone's definition. I've noticed the same, btw, but I expect my perspective about it is more lenient than yours, considering your OP.

19. Their are plenty of examples,
and I guess that it is really just a matter of perspective about the origins of poo, but no matter who you support plenty of poo has been flung you way.

20. I mostly ignore primary poo
I chose my candidate long ago. I'm happy with him. I see no need to sling poo at others, though I will share my feelings on occasion when asked. But mostly, I ignore the poo. If more DUers went poo-less, it'd be a nicer place.

26. I agree,
I'm still one of the undecided, though I lean heavily to one candidate. I'll probably be undecided until the moment I vote, I like to keep my options open. Thanks for the civil discussion it is greatly appreciated.

Especially if the heat is directed where it belongs, the Republicans. However if you have a grease fire in your kitchen you should put it out.

22. Ok then, who do you want censored first?
Nobody likes grease fires...

But who is to say when constructive criticism becomes downright mean or rude? Where do you or anyone draw the line? Its all subjective!

My point is in our democracy and on DU in particular, people have a right to say whatever they want (within DU's rules of course).

Who do you want to censure first and for what? Pretty yukky question eh?

28. Again its a matter of perspective.
Also I don't remember saying anyone should be censored. I do remember saying things are ridiculous in GD and GDP. Thats my opinion and I stand buy it. I think people that got on DK for the UFO thing were full of poo, but maybe I should take that back. Maybe it was just constructive criticism.

27. Sometimes it reminds me of the lounge
I don't care if it's snowing where you are and I don't come to DU to read about a sick puppy or whatever other PERSONAL stuff people feel compelled to post in GD that doesn't go there. It's ridiculous.

As far at the primary goes, well, there are a lot of keyboard commandoes here who wouldn't knowthe first thing about getting on with others in real world politics so they are in constant shit-flinging-monkey mode.

This ain't the place to come for serious discussion on the primaries, just like Mrs. Smith's first grade class ain't the place to go to discuss higher math.

35. I'm tired of people saying it's the same old same old
It's not.

I've been coming here since early 2003.

DU is way, WAY different than it used to be. This used to be a place to come to commiserate with like minds and to feel better.

It's not anything like that anymore. And it hasn't been for awhile.

It's really sad, but hopefully we will all get back together after the primaries. When it wont be so difficult tp tombstone the trolls. Don't forget you have to burn trolls to kill them.
