DU'ers who expect liberal Xians to counter a political movement that uses the rhetoric of religion to fool people need to understand just how much money has been poured into the Christian Right.

The broadcasting empire alone is billions of dollars, and yet somehow DU'ers expect liberal Xians to get their voice heard?

The liberal churches I'm familiar with are doing food banks, day care, serving housebound etc. with their money.

And the corporate media has EVERY intention of giving the microphone to the Fundies. It serves their own financial interests.

There are liberal Xians speaking up. And liberal Jews. Rabbi Lerner and Jim Wallis come to mind. Although I've noticed when threads about these men are posted, they sink like stones.

There once was a very effective liberal Christian and he got shot when I was very young.

The leadership of the Christian Right is plugged right into the Republican Party. It gets huge amounts of money.

And yet, liberal churches are tasked with combating that and blamed for not being able to be heard?

I think a lot of DU'ers have no fucking idea just how well organized and funded the Christian Right is and WHERE the leadership comes from.
