About four years ago a 17-year-old poster named Goldeneye started reading DU. A year late she changed her major from Biology to Political Communications, transfered to George Washington University in DC and is now an intern for a MAJOR Liberal Senator. She'll graduate with honors in May and now seeks a career in Politics. Her life has taken a huge turn and her goal is to make a positive change in this country...all because of the lively, informed debate she found on DU!

because I've seen opinions that I and other people first expressed on DU traveling around the net and even onto mass media, easily recognized because none of the words were changed.

Those who "should" read DU do not, rest assured.
Nonetheless, those who do make a difference, especially journalists the world over.

Make your DU posts count. Many wander into DU thanks to search engines.
If you place lots of important keywords in your threads, and links to related posts and sites, it is far likelier
your threads/posts will be accessed by news hounds, fact checkers, researchers, and the journalist they work for.

I've pasted a short keyword string, for convenience, from a new thread into Google, and had my own thread as the top result, this within an hour of starting it. Google is constantly crawling DU. So, make your posts keyword rich, and they will come from everywhere the world over to read it.

Be the media the media reads!
