"He's been impeached already by the heart and soul and spirit of the american people"
when i heard this i smiled--it made me feel a little bit better

brent: you're going to be waking up in a day, in a week, in a month--there are going to be 20 front page stories about torture tapes and witnesses, and evidence. it's one thing after another. as the bush administration comes to a close the dirt is pouring out of the bag here on almost one issue after another issue after another issue.

randi: so the big question--do they run out the clock? is this a sport for them or is this really a nation of laws

brent: well, it will be a nation of laws 11 months from now when a new president is elected. i'm optimistic that we're going to like the results--certainly in congress. and what's happening is bush has already been psychologically impeached by the american people and the world community. seventy percent of america just loathes and despises this guy. they want him out, they want america to move on, they want it over. he's gonna be put in the dust bin of american history, spending the rest of his life reading what a lousy president he was. and if there is any satisfaction to people who want him to be impeached (and he may not legally be impeached) its that he has already been impeached. he's been impeached by the country--they want to get beyond him, they want him out. and that's what makes me optimistic because 12 months from this day you'll be reading stories about who's the new secretary of state and who's the new secretary of defense and who are the new supreme court justices that a democratic president will hopefully appoint and have a liberal court for the next twenty years.

it's gonna be a new america. this guy is dead history.
he's out. so we have to just wait for the last year of the dead hand of the past to claw it's way through and survive meaning bush and then he'll either do his pardon or he'll spend the rest of his life worrying about the statue of limitations.

but every day there's a new scandal, a new story and a new lie. it's news when you don't have another lie by the president of the united states. and this iran thing was the ultimate humiliation because it was a replication of what happened on iraq. and it virtually rules out his ability to invade iran with more lies because then he may well be impeached by people who just wish he'd go away.

randi: i feel like celebrating christmas now. thank you.

brent: well, there is good news here: he's been impeached already by the heart and the soul and the spirit of the american people. and that's big news for us.

1. Cool. And, of course, he was never really President.

2. I know people who, a year ago, were Bush supporters.....
NOW? They hate his guts. And these were died-in-the-wool Bushbots. Even they, though, now can't stand him.

3. I do, too
Now they insist they're Independents or Libertarians, even though they joyously cast their votes for Bush in 2000/2004 and were quick to boast when he 'won'.

5. That was my first response
to think it's not enough. But then I thought perhaps she was happy because a majority of the country has finally seen the light/truth about him. (Still not enough but something to be happy about)

With the right people in power and a congress motivated by this majority we might have a shot at some sort of justice.

10. The problem is that we have not examined the truth about
this corrupt administration's crimes at all.

And following the law should have nothing to do with having the right people in office. There is nothing to celebrate when lawmakers hold themselves above the law. They are either held accountable for their actions or all laws should be repealed for everyone. This country is broken. It's laws are applied selectively. I don't care what people "feel" in their hearts about *bush. I want him to be held accountable for his actions. And he won't be held accountable without a vigorous examination of his actions through impeachment.

Impeachment is off the table. Fine. We're a nation of laws which apply to the unwashed masses only. The elite have a free pass and protect one another. Justice is a joke.

7. The only problem is, people like him couldn't care less what anyone thinks.
He, like most in this administration, is a sociopath. They lack the brain structure that allows for normal cognition of emotion, most dramatically when it comes to inflicting pain on others. He will not live out his days in shame. He will continue to claim his policies were successful (his real policies of raiding and privatizing, have been very successful). Look at Rove. Outright lying about the initiation of the Iraq war. Just lying flat out.

And there will be the deluded/conspirators who will enable Bush.

This may feel good, but it's like yelling out to someone who just stole your wallet that now they're not getting a Christmas card.

9. BIG FUCKING DEAL
Orleans, sure, this is "better than nothing" - but "impeached in the heart" is a such an incredibly far cry from what GW deserves (cellblock A). We may be tilting at windmills, I know, but IMHO it's a mistake to settle for "something".

I want the friggin monster tried in international court and until that day I'll keep asking for that. To my dying breath. I hate that bastard. I hate him for making me hate him - that son of a bitch.

11. i know. i know. but i have to admit, when i heard this i smiled
it was as if--for the moment--someone took a 500 pound weight that has been crushing me and held it up a bit so i could take a breath. i smiled and sat up a little straighter. it was a feeling of "at least that--at least that"

i am, by no means, saying this is good enough. we all know it's no where near good enough. and so, the fight continues.

did you sign onto this for robert wexler? if not, please check it out.
