If one buys into the "long war". the "war on terror", the war on "Islamofascism"...no matter what side of the issue one chooses, Huckabee cannot win the presidency..

The "dirty thirty" (Clinton-hater evangelical, bible-thumping, anti abortion, fundamentalists) may love him and support him, but the other 70% dems, independents & "real" republicans will run away faster than even the Monty Python crew could imagine.
( the dirty thirty is actually probably closer to the tempestuous twenty, these days )

If you buy the premise that we need some serious "soothing & smoothing" in the middle east, another religious zealot who wants to meet jesus, sooner rather than later, is NOT a good idea.

The transcript for an interview linked is from october, and in it, he openly discusses how he thinks that armageddon is already underway. This was done BEFORE his recent surge, when he was still a fringe candidate. It's even MORE scary now, since he's movin' on up...

After nearly 8 years of a dangerous armagedonist we surely need to embrace "the other side", and cool the rhetoric.

The LAST thing we need is another zealot who even has a degree in right wing religion

Conservatives(have a Libertarian bent) The ConservatuveHawks and
Foreign Policy Conservatives are not inspired by Huckabee, in fact
he does not meet their threshold for a Conservative.

IMO, we are witnessing the Revenge of the Fundies. Huckabee is
their way of telling the Republican --We are still here and are
a force to be reckoned with. This is a struggle within the GOP.
Will the GOP open up and be a more flexible party, or will it
maintain its Image of the Religous Party. By uniting behind Huckabee,
they believe this gives them more leverage in this struggle.

In the end , I doublt very seriously that Huckabee will be the Candidate
but the RR will have some concessions.
