Help I need to find a charity that needs beds
I have recently purchased 2600 beds and have old beds that are being replaced to scrap. At the moment I have been setting up disposal for the old beds (mostly old fashioned crank hospital beds - a few older model electric hospital beds) in 60 locations across 6 states (california mostly but also texas, washington, arizona, utah, and idaho)

I have been looking for someone or some organization that can make use of these beds (and has the resources to pick them up - though i may be able to work with the vendor who was going to charge us to dispose of them to deliver them)

there has to be some charity that does hospital type stuff in countries that need beds (mexico?) or even here (N.O. ?)

While i realize GFE....I'm not finding any organizations that are interested - any ideas?

4. Put a post on Craigslist.org for the cities where you could help
CL also has an international prescence. Once you find a grateful recipient, you may even be able to find a shipper who'll do it for free, or for its PR value.

Good luck, and thanks for giving back.

11. freecycle also
that would likely be one bed at a time, but the people who need it would probably be incredibly grateful.

18. What a good clue!!
"Manufacturers, wholesalers, hospitals and clinics donate new, surplus and overstock supplies and both new and used items of medical equipment to Project C.U.R.E. The vast majority of these donations are perfectly good - the result of renovations, replacements, re-orders or retirement. Project C.U.R.E. dispatches large trucks and "C.U.R.E. Couriers" to retrieve the items as soon as possible.

The C.U.R.E. Corps is a team of individuals, families, civic and church groups who share compassion for people around the world in desperate need of medical attention. Some contact doctors and hospitals to request donations, others collect donations in trucks or their mini-vans. Corps members also sort the vast number of items into 150 different inventory categories, pack boxes and load supplies into semi-truck-sized overseas cargo containers. They put the wings on "Delivering Health & Hope to the World."

9. You are wonderful, daveskilt.
I don't have a lot of suggestions, but do think you could use a marketing "team" to scout out local possibilities.

13. You can email Sarge at this link:
http://unreportednews.net/

He and others are trying to take care of those that are still in need in the Gulf Coast. They are always looking for help. They even have donated UHauls to pick up big donations. Even if he can't use them, he might be able to tell you who might be able to use them.

You are a good heart.

16. Here's a link
Common Ground Collective in NOLA has been gutting and renovating low-cost housing and they also have a health clinic in the 9th ward (and I think one in St. Bernard, but I might be mistaken about that).

Anyway, they probably can't use all the beds but they might be interested in some of them. Here's their URL:

everybody needs a new bed there--we scraped up some Christmans money to give new beds to families, then couldn't figure a way to get them down there.
