Come on up to Vermont and hit the powder
We have so much snow already that the conditions are excellent, but we are getting dumped on. I have well over two feet on the ground at my house and it's snowing at the rate of 3 inches an hour now. It's supposed to go all day and all night. I'd like to go to Smuggs tomorrow, but I doubt I'll be able to get out. We may well get another two feet.

If you ski or board the conditions are going to be fantastic.

1. I learned to ski in Vermont.... usually icy, somewhat treacherous

runs that require one to develop control and skill-- for that I am grateful. Fresh powder on those same runs was a real treat.

While I adore skiing the West and certainly Colorado has all I could want in terms of great skiing, I still hold a special place in my heart for the slopes of Vermont.

4. I learned to ski here too, and some winters it stinks
but some areas- like Jay, have lots of great powder days. It's snowing so hard now, it's a blizzard. In fact they just broke into VPR with an official blizzard warning.

7. Enjoy.... I love snow.... Denver has a nice covering now, but
most is in the mountains and western foothills.

But, I go back to that ski-control issue thankfully gained from earlier times in Vermont. So many western skiiers get spoiled by the wide open slopes that they don't really learn how to control themselves when navigating a narrow or tree-lined area, or under icy conditions or when skiing fast. This is probably why we've had so many "tree on man" fatalities in recent years. I admit that I too have gotten lazy and sloppy on the easier blue and blue-black runs and have to occasionally go seek out a black diamond run to re-learn those skills.

Happy powder days to you!

6. Where are they?
Here in the Kingdom we are really getting pounded. I expect the power to go out by late afternoon and be out for a good 18 hrs.

8. To the west .
Most are around the St. Albans area or near Stowe. They may not be out there this morning, but they were all having a blast yesterday.
