1. For a moment there, I thought those yellow and orange things were not clogs, but
strategically positioned "shapes"...

Still, that orange one is a bit big, ain't it...

3. Fuck Russert... That's what he calls Journalism?
Breaking out a pair of fucking flip flops? He looks like one of those dorks at the Republican National Convention.. next he'll be wearing a purple heart band-aid.

Don't get me wrong Romney deserves to be called out on his bullshit position changes but to do it like a fucking third grader on the playground is embarrassing at the very least.

5. I disagree with you. THA'S the kind of stuff people remember!
Advertisers do it all the time! Think about it. What do you think of first when you see the little green geco on TV, or the dancing doughboy? Remember the Marlboro man?

Sure it's comic, and childish, but it sticks in people's minds!

8. Well I can't disagree that our candidates are sold to us
just like our cars and our soap but I'm not going to agree that it's right. We got along fine for a couple hundred years without this kind of playground politics and we could get along fine without it now. If someone is going to cast a vote because they saw a "journalist" or a politician hold up a pair of flip-flops, we're doomed.

14. Actually that's not quite true. I remember when I was a little girl,
the candidate I recognized was the one with the song. One that you heard on the radio all the time and found yourself singing during the day. It was a different kind of marketing because radio ads are much different than TV, but for it's time, it was much the same.

The thing that is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT was that there weren't any pundits. At least not anything close to what we have now! People ARE influenced by them. The "repeat something often enough and it becomes the truth" really has turned out to work!

10. And so many don't even know the difference
That's what scares the pee out of me. Our poor kids who have never seen better. Boomers ought to be ashamed of themselves. No wonder some people think our time is up.

11. Yes, that's a pathetic display by Russert
He deserves to be ridiculed as a "journalist".
